The founder of Buddhism was called Siddhartha Gautama, and later Shakyamuni, and Buddha was just a misnomer. According to the Buddhist scriptures, there were several ancient Buddhas before Sakyamuni, and the ancient Buddha of the lamp is one of them, these ancient Buddhas have been reshaped, and some have absorbed ancient myths and civilizations, in short, they are to establish an image backer for their religion, showing that their teachings are not out of thin air, but have a basis and theory, and there are gods on it, you can not believe me, but you can't help but believe in the ancient gods.

In fact, this method is the same as that of the emperor who came to power by uprising in China, after ascending the throne, he had to repair his family tree, pull several celebrities in ancient times, establish his own bloodline, and then give his father and ancestor the position of emperor, so that his identity is very noble, and the throne is justified. There is such a phenomenon in various countries of the world, where aristocracy worships blood from the beginning of its appearance and establishes a rule of the game that does not involve different people.

At the beginning of the establishment of Buddhism, the influence was still relatively small, and the founder was still alive in the world, but he did not show any magical powers, which was difficult to convince believers. There is a big difference between religion and academic doctrine, and it must be linked to the gods, so Buddhism must pull the banner and shape its own religious origin for its own development. And Buddhism has also formed its own unique worldview from this, and it explains things very reasonably.

According to the theory of Buddhism, the world is a reincarnation, the universe from rebirth, development to death, and then re-appearance, in this process, every world will have the appearance of the Buddha, the previous world is broken, but the Buddha of the previous world is the ancient Buddha of the lamp, and the Buddha of this world is Shakyamuni, in order to make this link appear perfect, so the next world is also given, that is, Maitreya Buddha. In this way, the Buddha of the past, the Buddha, and the Buddha of the future are complete, representing the maturity of the concept of Buddhism.
