Where does the cheongsam come from?
The cheongsam belongs to the national costume of the Manchu people. The Manchus are one of China's 56 ethnic groups.
The Manchus are in the Baishan, Songhua and Heilongjiang river basins in northeastern China.
The Manchu people have a very long history, and their origins can be traced back to the Western Zhou Dynasty 3,000 years ago (11th century BC) since recorded Chinese history. At that time, the Manchu people, formerly known as the Sushen people, were one of the earliest recorded inhabitants of Northeast China at that time, and lived in the area of the Ussuri River in what is now Changbai Mountain. After the middle of the 16th century AD, the eighth son of the descendants of the Jurchen rulers of Jianzhou appeared, Aixin Jueluo Nurhachi (Aixin, Manchu "gold"; Jueluo, Manchu "clan").
This Taizu Aixin Jueluo Nurhachi founded the Manchu language, unified the Jurchens, and established the Jurchen clan Eight Banners system. In 1616, the Later Jin regime was established on the basis of Jurchen unification. In 1636, Taizong Aixin Jueluo Huang Taiji abolished the old Jurchen name and named the clan "Man".
As a result, the Jurchens gradually evolved into the Manchus. In 1644, the Manchurians entered the customs to establish the Qing Dynasty and set the capital in Beijing. Since then, the Manchu and Han ethnic groups have gradually merged.
It can be seen that the Manchus were not discovered only after the Manchu Qing Dynasty established their capitals, but gradually evolved after 3,000 years of evolution and development.
