Merit has two connotations, one is virtue, and the other is the benefits obtained. When we use it for Buddha, we usually refer to what virtues the Buddha possessed. When we use it for sentient beings, we usually mean the benefit that comes from doing something. Used in different aspects, the connotation will be somewhat different.
Seeing sex is work. Equality is virtue. Thoughts are not stagnant, and the common nature is true and wonderful.
It's called merit. Humility in the heart is merit. Layman is virtuous.
Self-nature establishes ten thousand laws. Separation of the mind and body is virtue. Not departing from one's own nature is work.
The application of non-dyed is virtue. If you look for merit and dharma body, but do it according to this. It's a real merit.

I'm not a Buddhist, just someone who has some interest in religion. There are some doubts that I can't figure out.
Q, there are some different understandings of merit:
Gong should be to understand yourself, understand what you want, what kind of person you want to become, and it can also be understood as "understanding yourself and setting a goal in life".
Virtue is to unswervingly practice one's own goals, and ultimately achieve the goal, that is, "virtue".
In other words, merit is the process by which a person establishes an ideal and practices it to achieve it.
Of course, there must be a clear utilitarian nature in our human society, so when we set goals, religion will definitely guide everyone in the direction of goodness. Therefore, the concept of "gong" has been rendered with layers of social color.
However, since "correctness" itself has its own positional problem, that is to say, standing on different standpoints, "right and wrong" can be transformed into each other. For example, helping the poor to eat meat is a correct good deed from the perspective of the poor, and this is an extremely terrifying demon king from the perspective of animals.
So, on the one hand, Buddhism is constantly expanding its scope of representation in the process of development, and it is trying to represent everything in the universe. In this way, the goodness preached in Buddhism becomes true goodness, but this is very difficult to achieve.
On the other hand, doing the same thing is a good deed in the present, and as time passes, the good deed at the beginning becomes the evil deed later. Then when we "make meritorious service," good and evil are actually confused.
The questions are:1Is good and evil judged by effect, or by motivation (good intentions do bad things, sometimes causing more harm than pure evil) (timeline problem)?
2.Good and evil have limitations, and even if Buddhism tries to expand the scope of coverage, it cannot be compatible with the position of all things, so does good and evil matter (the question of coverage)?

1.Merit and virtue. The merits are immeasurable, and the merits of the martial father and son are all achieved by His Majesty, ranking as generals and marquis.

There was a girl named Zhang Hui, who was 14 years old before her death, and was crushed to death by a truck ten times. It's her uncle. She wants people to know about it, please send ten **. She will repay you and make your favorite person like you.

There is no such thing as absolute good or evil, and there is no such thing as absolute merit. Just be worthy of your own heart.
-
A person's motivation is the most important thing, and if a person does not have a good intention, he will not be able to make merits. To give a simple example, there are many people in the world who like to transmit negative energy to others when they are not moving, telling others that they have a lot of hatred and dissatisfaction in their hearts. Why do so many people have accidents?
It is to first tell others about his grievances, tell them a lot, hope to get their sympathy, and then want to get help from others.
For a person who has "me".
"Selflessness" is the cultivation of the six realms. What does this mean? Because there's nothing in this world that I'm not happy about, there's nothing I hate, because in this world we're just passers-by.
All the things that are doing are non-doing, so the self-being is the merit in the Dharmakaya, that is, all the things that you do after you have understood the Dharma, are all merits. You know that you are a bodhisattva, that's why you do this, and that's two concepts of simply cultivating happiness and longevity. A lot of people kneel in front of the Bodhisattva, and they kneel down as a Bodhisattva, and some people kneel down as a Bodhisattva, and some people are still thinking about the things they did in the past, and the Bodhisattva sees that you are a beast, because the things you talk about in your mouth are still those things that are very much in the world, and you are not valuable, and you have to understand these truths.
In studying Buddhism, you should not only cultivate blessings, but also really make merits, and completely elevate the good deeds you have done to the level of a bodhisattva, so what you do is merit.
-
Sincerely do good deeds, do not ask for returns, and serve the people.
-
To put it simply, it is willing to do all good and cut off all evil.

Taoism makes merit by filling in the library and burning the treasury money. Buddhism is about making merit for water and land pujas. Venerable Sanzang came back from the scriptures to make merit for the water and land puja, not to fill in the treasury and burn the treasury for the merit. Fake monks are imitations and are invalid.
-
1 Good deeds done in the presence of a bodhisattva are merits.
2 Helping others without purpose is also merit.
3 Good deeds done for the monks and in the temple are also merits.
4 Forbearance with the support of Buddhist theories.
To make merit, the main thing is to recite sutras, make vows, release lives, and practice the six paramitas, that is, to give alms, to keep the precepts, to meditate, to endure humiliation, to be diligent, and to be diligent.
-
Usually what we call merit is merit in a broad sense. It refers to all the good or pure karma created by the body, mouth, and mind of benefiting sentient beings. For example:
Reciting Buddha, chanting sutras, holding mantras, meditating, releasing life, helping others, giving food and medicine, helping the poor and helping students, and so on all the good deeds, good hearts, and good words. Even if you don't do the above-mentioned good deeds, but just think about it, you have merit.
How to make merit? Following the above examples is merit.
-
The original meaning of merit is merit, function, and virtue. Such as the ancestral virtue. To make merit is to do something that is meritorious.
By the time of the Yuan Dynasty, because of a famous saying of a monk, making merit had the meaning of transcending the dead. The famous saying goes, "For those who transcend the merits of the dead, three points are awarded to the deceased, and seven points are awarded to the living." The Taoist priest is to make the merit of filling the reservoir, and the monk is to do the merit of the water and land puja and other transcendent pujas.
The Sanzang monk came back from the scriptures to make merit for the water and land puja, not to fill in the library merit. The merit of filling the reservoir is the exclusive practice of the Taoist, and the merit of the water and land puja is the exclusive practice of the monk. The basis for fake monks to imitate Taoist rituals to fill in the merits (burning treasury money) is all apocrypha.
The apocryphal scriptures are the "Shousheng Sutra" and the "Blood Basin Sutra". "Shousheng Sutra" is the abbreviation of "Buddha Says Shousheng Sutra". The apocryphal "Shousheng Sutra" is the basis for fake monks to burn treasury money.
The apocryphal scripture "Blood Basin Sutra" is the basis for false monks to worship blood basins. Ritual based on the Apocrypha is invalid, so don't be fooled.

-
I have not heard of authentic merits, only of merits. The merit is originally in the Dharmakaya, so don't ask for it from the outside
-
What is the difference between merit and merit? For example, if a person is 39 years old and has a car accident or cancer, just say to the Bodhisattva, "Bodhisattva, use all my merits to resolve a certain disaster." "You can eliminate disasters and solve problems.
And merit means that you help others, help other people's families do good deeds, buy things, respect the old and love the young, but you don't have the heart, you don't learn Buddhism, and what you get is the blessings of human beings.
This blessing will soon be returned to himself, and when disaster comes, he will surely suffer it, because his blessing has been rewarded. He treats others well, and if others treat him well, it's over.
Merit is able to remove obstacles of iniquity. —
-
But there is a difference between Fude and Paramita. If merit refers to paramita, then one of the differences from merit is that this kind of good karma is used to support the practice or to encounter good knowledge, or to be good friends, with fewer obstacles, and to help with liberation. On the other hand, the maturity of good karma is not directional, and it may be the result of clothing, food, shelter, and transportation.
-
The "virtue" here is the "de".
Merit refers to the attainment of kung fu, and kung fu refers to the skill of cultivation.
The so-called cultivation of "blessing" is to do good, so that there will be "merit", and the cultivation of "wisdom" is to cultivate the mind, purify one's own heart, and open up great wisdom. The more effective a person is in cultivating kung fu, the more he can cultivate great goodness and the more wisdom he will have.
Merit is not necessarily something that can only be possessed by a practitioner, everyone can cultivate merit, and merit is a blessing, and it cannot be like merit that can make people get rid of troubles and achieve positive results. Those who cultivate good fortune and do good deeds will have good fortune, but the difference is that good fortune is only a blessing in the world, and it is inevitable that the cycle of life and death will be unavoidable.
-
The obvious difference between merit and merit is; Outside the meritorious; for the help of others; Do more good deeds! Blessed Christ; For the protection and care of family members, it is the so-called cause of goodness; Get good results!
-
Merit refers to the attainment of the practice of precepts and wisdom, and merit is the attainment of merit, which is for one's own true use; Merit is the blessing accumulated from external charity, such as generosity and offerings, which is equivalent to the external body. For example, a person's qualities and abilities are similar to merits; A person's wealth is similar to merit.
Amitabha!
-
To put it simply, merit is not attached, not for oneself, and if you do good deeds but you don't feel that you are doing good, merit is for one's own benefit.
-
Merit can give people merit, but merit is not good, for example, keeping the precepts is merit, attaining it is virtue, attaining it must be merit, and attaining wisdom is virtue.

Legend has it that the release pond was founded by the wise master of Tiantai Mountain, who was a great sage during the Sui Dynasty. The release pond built by the wise master back then was not an ordinary pool. It is a natural river, and his old man raised money to give to the fishermen while teaching the fishermen about the "Flowing Water Elder Product" in the "Golden Light Sutra" and educating the people.
Praise of Buddha's merits: Buddha's merits are immeasurable, I wish the supreme Dharma King, the four graces and three are fully rewarded, the unjust relatives are all over-the-top, and the former people increase their blessings and wisdom, and the Buddha is on his deathbed. The Buddha put a golden hand and led it to the west.
The greatest merit of chanting Buddha is to influence one's thoughts and actions by understanding the philosophy of life and understanding the goodness in the Buddhist scriptures. Chanting the Buddha is not simply reciting Buddhist scriptures, kneeling down in front of the Buddha statue and reciting the scriptures, expressing one's loyalty. >>>More
