Venerable Sheng Yu explained the essence of the practice of the Lengyan Sutra:

In the Lengyan Sutra, it is said that Ananda.

Although he heard a lot, he didn't know how to practice, and he couldn't achieve it without being able to achieve it, so he realized that it was not okay to just hear a lot and not practice, and that one person could not make everyone full when he ate, and everyone had to cultivate, and he could not be full if he only listened to others' food.

So we now know that there are two main aspects of practice, one is listening and contemplating, and the other is cultivation. Only through listening and thinking can we understand reason, believe in it, and have a path of cultivation. It is only through practice that one can attain it.

What do we gain by studying Buddhism? What are you asking for? It is to seek wisdom, to get rid of one's own greed, hatred, ignorance, and suspicion.

Get rid of your own pride, seek inner purity, seek great peace and freedom, seek life and death, seek the six realms of reincarnation, and seek liberation.

Now there is this sect, that faction, there are many people who are going around the mountain, just go directly to the mountain, no matter if you are going up the mountain, you have to climb up. No matter what method you cultivate, you need to cultivate it with your true nature, and it's all the same, when you get to the mountain, there is only one top, only one place, and all the laws are one. No matter what sect or sect, you can't achieve it without getting rid of greed, hatred, and ignorance, and you can't set your mind and wisdom.

None of them can be accomplished, no one can be accomplished without a pure heart, and their essence and core are the same, there is no difference.

Everyone knows that there are many people who recite the Buddha, but there are few people who have attained it. It's not that everyone is not religious, it's not that everyone doesn't work hard. The main thing is that it is not as good as the law, and it is used in the wrong place, and it is always working the phase, but not in the heart.

Worshipping the Buddha, reciting the Buddha, chanting sutras, holding mantras, meditating, sutras, etc., are all tools for spiritual practice, all of which are starting points, all of which are designed to train our enlightenment, reduce our delusions, distracting thoughts, and make our minds pure and soft. So these phases, these forms are not important, let's not take it as the most important thing, put the body and mind on it. Dressing, eating, drinking tea, chatting, working and exercising can all be practice.

Whatever you do with your thoughts is practice, and whatever you do without looking at your thoughts is not practice.

Everyone has a true nature, but they are surrounded by greed, hatred, ignorance, I can be me, selfishness is this "me", and she can't show it. When we do these homework, we are revealing our true nature, and once our true nature is revealed, the "I" will disappear, and the greed, hatred, and stupidity, I can be me, and selfishness will naturally disappear. Once the outer packaging disappears, the true nature will naturally be revealed.

Ananda, the fatigue of Yigen, is relatively difficult to say. For example, some people need to sleep when they are tired, and they will wake up naturally when they have slept enough. When you wake up, you will remember all kinds of dusty realms, and this is the meaning.

If you can't remember, it's called forgetting. Forget and remember, think and forget. In this way, the thoughts are born, dwelling, changing, and extinguishing, and all kinds of dust are in an endless cycle.

This is all the habit flow since the beginningless, and absorbing this habit will eventually return to the root of the mind. They are one after the other, and they do not cross each other, which is the root of consciousness. The root of consciousness and its tiring initiations are all inverted phases of bodhi mind.

It is like the flower of the illusion of emptiness born from fatigue after gazing for a long time.

All the dust of the law operates in the process of birth and death, and the consciousness is activated by the phase of birth and destruction, and all kinds of thoughts and thoughts arise. These thoughts and thoughts are all left in the consciousness after the eyes, ears, nose, tongue, body, and their relative realms have disappeared, and they become the dust of the law. This dharma dust flows endlessly, and this is awareness.

But this awareness is not really the original mind. This awareness, when it is separated from the two dusty phases of sleep, wakefulness, and birth and death, has no independent and solid body at all.

So, you should know that this awareness that arises from sleep and wakefulness, neither from birth and death, nor from the root of consciousness, nor from emptiness.

If this awareness comes from awakening. That is, only when you are awake. Then when you sleep, you should extinguish and disappear. If it disappears, then who is sleeping? In sleep, who is the dreamer?

If this perceptual consciousness comes from sleep. Then when you wake up, your sleep is gone. This knowledge should also be extinguished, and who is waking up?

If it must be only when it is born, then when it is destroyed, it is actually the cause of birth that is gone. This perceptual knowledge will inevitably disappear with the absence of life. So who is perceiving this extinction?

If this perceptual knowledge is self-extinguishing. When we are born, the cause of our annihilation is gone. This perceptual knowledge will inevitably disappear with the absence of extinction, so who is perceiving this being?

So, Ananda, you should know that this perceptual knowledge does not come from all the phenomena of birth and destruction.

If this awareness is the root of consciousness and has nothing to do with sleeping or waking up, then the two karmic states of sleeping and waking up are based on the sensations of the body. Without sleep and wakefulness, the awareness of this root of consciousness is just like empty flowers, and it cannot find its independent physical existence at all.

If this perceptual cognition is born from the air, then all the perceptual cognition is the emptiness of cognition. What does this have to do with your opinion? Besides, emptiness is nothingness, and if it is intentional, then how can it still be called emptiness?

Therefore, the intention is actually still vain. It is not born of the harmony of causes and conditions, nor does it have a natural nature, but it is just a false appearance of fate.

Sure enough, the scriptures you read have been "modernized" (read the scriptures as much as possible to get first-hand information, so that the demons are embarrassed)! , the correct break is that the rhythm is:

Again, Ananda Yun He six into the original, such as to hide, wonderful, true as sex. Ananda is the one who stares at the laborer. Both eyes and labor are Bodhi. Stare at the labor phase because of light and darkness. The two kinds of delusion are in the middle. Sucking in this dust is called seeing sex. This view is separated from the other, after all, there is no body.

The above string should be read in one breath (except that the rhythm of the sentence break is not right, and the position at the end of your excerpt is also wrong). If the rhythm is wrong and the meaning is out of shape, you will not be able to see the meaning of the law. Reread it at the right pace, and it shouldn't be difficult to understand the meaning.
