For a long time, the teaching of composition has mostly been based on propositional composition, and the phenomenon of "old, old, imaginary, and spelling" is not uncommon. After class, some students went to the library to look for books, some found materials to do experiments, some asked teachers and parents for advice, and some even wrote letters to newspapers, magazines, and radio stations to ask.

Three weeks later, in another composition class, I asked everyone to report on their research in small groups, and asked them to clarify three questions when they spoke: (1) What is the problem being studied? (2) What is the research process?

Then, I organized the whole class to communicate, selected a few representatives to talk about their own process and results, and organized everyone to comment. The effect of this is significant. Because the students write about their own personal experiences, they are highly motivated and active in writing, and the essays they hand in are generally more distinctive. One of the students wrote the title:

She found out from the book that the reason why hens lay fewer eggs in winter was because of the short light time, so she conducted an experiment with her grandmother and installed an electric light in the chicken coop to increase the light time, and the result was that the hens did lay more eggs.
