Liang Shiqiu (January 6, 1903 - November 3, 1987), a native of Hangxian County (now Hangzhou), Zhejiang Province, was born in Beijing, formerly known as Liang Zhihua, the word Shiqiu, and his pen names were Zijia, Qiulang, Cheng Shu, etc. He is a modern and contemporary Chinese essayist, scholar, literary critic, and translator. I have carefully compiled a brief introduction to Liang Shiqiu's life for you, hoping to have some reference for you.
1. A happy marriage
The original wife Cheng Jishu (1901 - April 30, 1974), whose ancestral home was Jixi, Anhui, married Liang Shiqiu in February 1927. has three daughters and one son, the eldest daughter Liang Wenqian; second daughter (deceased); eldest son, Liang Wenqi; Four daughters Liang Wenqiang.
Cheng Jishu was born in a famous family, her grandfather was a former official to the prefect of the Daimyo Mansion of Zhili Province, and her father was the eldest son in the family, who ran a pen and ink shop in Beijing. In the winter of 1921, Liang Shiqiu and Cheng Jishu went on their first date. In a short period of time, they have been deeply attracted to each other, and almost all of the elegant places in Peking have imprinted the footprints of the two of them.
In 1923, Liang Shiqiu ended his 8-year life at Tsinghua University, and packed his luggage to prepare to study in the United States according to the requirements of the school.
On February 11, 1927, Liang Shiqiu and Cheng Jishu, who had returned to China after completing their studies, held a wedding at the European and American Scholars Association along the Nanhe River in Beijing.
On July 28, 1937, after the fall of Beiping, Liang Shiqiu felt that his earlier political arguments were likely to lead to disaster, and some friends suggested that he had been on the "blacklist" of the Japanese army, and the best way to escape from Beiping was to escape. But the mother-in-law is already old and frail, and she can't bear the pain of running around. He and Cheng Jishu weighed it for a few days and decided that he would go first and wait for the situation to ease down a little before making plans.
In the spring of 1943, Cheng Jishu's mother died of illness, and when she and her children stood in front of Liang Shiqiu with a large pile of luggage, Cheng Jishu was 43 years old, with wrinkles at the corners of her eyes and gray hair around her ears. Liang Shiqiu not only ran for national affairs with the enthusiasm of an intellectual, but also did not forget to translate and work hard, and his eyebrows also showed vicissitudes.
In 1974, in Seattle, USA, Liang Shiqiu and Cheng Jishu spent their old age happily, however, on April 30, Liang Shiqiu and his wife went to the market to shop, and a ladder on the street suddenly fell and fell on Cheng Jishu. She succumbed to her injuries and died. The death of his wife was a heavy blow to Liang Shiqiu, and he wrote the book "Dream Memories of Huaiyuan" to express his condolences to his deceased wife.
The latest edition of Huaiyuan Dream Memories was published by Tianjin People's Publishing House in 2013.
2, Gu Xi suddenly forgot the year-old love
Han Jingqing (1931-1994), born in October 1931, was born to a magnate father who later moved to Shanghai. At the age of 7, she won the first prize in the Shanghai Children's Singing Competition, and at the age of 14, she became the "Queen of Singers" and became a dazzling new star in Shanghai. In 1949, Han Jingqing went to Hong Kong with her father.
"My Lover Is You", which she wrote, acted, sang and produced by herself, won her the Outstanding Actor Award at the Golden Horse Awards.
71-year-old Liang Shiqiu was invited to Taiwan half a year after his wife's death, and met Han Jingqing, who was 28 years younger than him, by chance. The day after the meeting, he used the address she had provided the day before

1, "Yashe Sketches", a classic of vernacular prose sketches, is also Zhuang and harmonious, and similar works are difficult to beat.
2, "Dream Memories of Huaiyuan", a deep and sincere work of mourning for his deceased wife.
3. "History of English Literature: Selected English Literature", the writing is outstanding, not textbook style.
4. "Liang Translation of Shakespeare" and some Shakespeare studies, one of the main works in his middle and later years, but he pursued the "letter" that reflected the original appearance with the stove, and did not delete and modify the songs, and the writing was naturally not bad, but it was not as elegant as the popular Zhu Shenghao version.
5, "Liang Yi's Meditations on Recording Stupid Codes", this is his personal favorite book, a work of the ancient Roman model, a maxim thing.
6. "Yashe Talks about Eating" is a work that caters to the current fashion, but the words can convey it to a limited extent.

The "Elegant House" in "Elegant House" refers to the six humble rooms that Liang Shiqiu shared with his friends in Beibei, Chongqing. The basic purpose of the house is mainly to shelter from the wind and rain and prevent invasion; However, the house is "not solid grate walls, doors and windows are not strict", "when the wind comes, it is like a pavilion", and "when the rain comes, it seeps like a drip". However, Liang Shiqiu has chosen a unique angle of expression - to find poetry from suffering.
Let's look at his description of the Grace House on a rainy day: "When the rain is drizzling, the Grace House is also interesting. Pushing the window and looking forward, it is like the Michael's method, like clouds and fog, and it is pervasive.
But when it rains heavily, I feel terrified again, and there are wet marks on the roof. At first, it is as big as a bowl, and then it expands like a basin, and then it drips endlessly, and finally the roof plaster suddenly cracks, like a strange first bloom, and the muddy water bets ...... with a soundSuch a self-absorbed philosophy of life and a super-utilitarian aesthetic attitude of "wandering outside the world and not being burdened by the world" are obviously influenced by the Taoist (especially Zhuangzi's) outlook on life and aesthetics.

Liang Shiqiu established his important position in the history of Chinese prose with his "Essays of Yashe". "Yashe Sketches" and "Sequel to Yashe Sketches" are Liang Shiqiu, who has entered middle age, after experiencing all kinds of ups and downs and war disasters, has weakened the enthusiasm and political ideals of "helping the world", and integrates his life experience, human insight, artistic taste, wisdom and learning, captures the artistic interest of life in a quiet and leisurely manner, and forms a humorous and leisurely prose style. His prose, or taken from the trivia of people's lives:
Drinking Tea", "Drinking", "Haircut", "Bath", etc.; or describe people's etiquette and hobbies: "cheap", "lazy", "eating", "listening to opera", "flying kites", etc.; or focus on different psychological endowments: "Woman", "Man", "Child", "Generation Gap", etc.; Or copy the life of life in the changing society:
Nouveau riche", "Advertisement", "Retirement", etc.; or express homesickness and nostalgia: "Old Capital Customs", "Eight Years of Tsinghua University", "Camel", "Talking about Xu Zhimo", etc.; Or record foreign customs and compare Chinese and Western cultures: "Seattle Miscellaneous", "Round Table and Chopsticks", etc.
