Tadao Ando traveled around the world and taught himself architecture after graduating from Osaka Prefecture Joto Institute of Technology Hitan Fuel Industry. In 1969, he founded the Tadao Ando Institute of Architecture. Completed in 1976, Sumiyoshi Nagaya in Osaka Prefecture is a two-story concrete house that has already shown its design style.

Later, he was awarded the Integrity Award by the Japan Society for Architectural Purity. In the 1980s, he was involved in the design of commercial buildings in the area around Kansai (Kobekitano, Osaka Shinsaibashi), and since the 1990s, he has been involved in large-scale projects such as public buildings and art museum buildings.
