In modern Chinese history, different dates have been used many times to celebrate Teacher's Day. It was not until 1985 that the Ninth Session of the Standing Committee of the Sixth National People's Congress passed the proposal on the establishment of Teachers' Day, and it was truly determined that September 10, 1985 was the first Teacher's Day in China.
In 1931, educators Tai Shuangqiu, Cheng Qibao and others contacted people in Beijing and Shanghai education circles, gathered at Nanjing ** University, issued a declaration calling for "improving the treatment of teachers, ensuring teachers' work and enhancing teachers' cultivation", and agreed that June 6 is Teachers' Day, also known as Double Six Festival. This Teacher's Day was not recognized by the Kuomintang at the time, but it had a certain impact throughout China.
In 1939, the Kuomintang decided to establish August 27, the birthday of Confucius, as Teacher's Day, and issued the "Interim Measures for the Commemoration of Teacher's Day", but it was not implemented nationwide at that time. After the establishment of the People's Republic of China, the People's Republic of China restored June 6 as Teachers' Day, and the Ministry of Education informed educators everywhere that they could organize their own celebrations according to the actual situation.
