In Buddhism, the word "moment" is often used to describe a very short period of time, and the word "eon" is often used to describe an extremely long period of time.

The ancient Indians have been using it for a long time to describe it, and the concept of kalpa is also in Hinduism, but the specific length of time is not the same as the description of Buddhism. The "calamity" in the Buddhist scriptures is divided into major calamity, medium calamity, and small calamity. Generally, unless otherwise specified, when we mention a catastrophe, we mean a great catastrophe.

How long a tribulation lasts may vary from one sutra to another. Some scriptures like to use metaphors to illustrate, for example, the Sangha Sutra says that if there is a huge city with an area of great land and it is full of flax, and every 100 years you take one grain of flax, all the flax in the city will be exhausted, and a calamity will not be over. For example, if there is a very large mountain, every 100 years it is wiped with silk, and so on until the whole mountain is gone, and the eons are still not over.

Some scriptures refer to the calamity of the birth of a Buddha as a great eon, and the eons of the birth of a Buddha without a Buddha as a minor eon. Some scriptures classify both medium and minor eons as the same eon. In view of the fact that there are different theories in different scriptures, here is a more widely recognized and easy-to-understand statement to introduce the concept of eons of time.

It is generally believed that a great eons are made up of four intermediate eons, while a medium eons are made up of twenty minor eons. In other words, one great eons is equal to eighty lesser eons. And a small eon, consisting of a reduced eon, and an increased calamity.

A great eons are made up of 80 minor eons, from which it can be concluded that a great eons are about 1,343.84 billion years (according to another theory, a great eons are composed of 80 intermediate eons, and if this is calculated, a great eons will be about 26,876.8 million years). It should be noted that the number 84,000 often appears in Buddhist scriptures, which is often extremely much, not necessarily a real reference, and the length of time calculated here can be used as a reference.

Such a small eons are 16.8 million years, a medium eons are 100 million years, and a major eons are 100 million years.

16,800,000 years is a small eon; 336 million years is one catastrophe; 1344,000,000 years is a great calamity. Middle Tribulation: Becoming a dwelling and a bad emptiness; There are 12 minor eons in one medium calamity.

Minor Tribulations: Each Medium Tribulation has 20 Minor Tribulations; A small catastrophe is the life span of a person. Bad calamities will lead to great calamities.

Great Tribulation: The four middle tribulations (Chengdwelling, Bad and Empty) are one great calamity.
