People along the coast led boats to rescue and threw food to prevent fish and shrimp from injuring Qu Yuan's body. He advocated joining forces to resist Qin and advocating "American politics".

Qu Yuan is one of China's greatest patriotic poets, and he is also the earliest known famous poet and great statesman in China. He founded the genre of "Chu Ci" (that is, the genre of "Cifu"), and also created the tradition of "vanilla beauty". "Lisao", "Nine Chapters", "Nine Songs" and "Tianwen" are Qu Yuan's most important masterpieces.

Lisao is the longest lyric poem in our country. The works of Qu Yuan seen in later generations are all from the "Chu Ci" collected by Liu Xiang of the Western Han Dynasty. This book is mainly Qu Yuan's works, including one article of "Lisao", eleven articles of "Nine Songs" ("Donghuang Taiyi", "Yunzhongjun", "Xiangjun", "Xiang Lady", "Da Si Ming", "Shao Si Ming", "Dong Jun", "Hebo", "Mountain Ghost", "National Martyrdom", "Rite Soul"), nine chapters and nine articles ("Cherish Recitation", "Shijiang", "Lamentation", "Drawing Thoughts", "Huaisha", "Si Meiren", "Cherish the Past", "Ode to Orange", "Sadness Returning to the Wind"), Tianwen" and so on.

Qu Yuan was trusted by King Huai of Chu in his early years, serving as a disciple of Zuo and a doctor of Sanlu, often discussing state affairs with King Huai, participating in the formulation of laws, advocating the rule of law, promoting meritocracy, reforming politics, and joining forces to resist Qin. At the same time, he presided over foreign affairs. He advocated that the state of Chu and the state of Qi should unite and jointly counter the state of Qin.

With Qu Yuan's efforts, the national strength of Chu has increased. However, due to his upright personality and the slander and exclusion of others, Qu Yuan was gradually alienated by King Chu Huai. In 305 BCE, Qu Yuan opposed King Huai of Chu to enter into the Yellow Thorn Alliance with Qin, but Chu still completely threw himself into Qin's arms.

As a result, Qu Yuan was also expelled from Yingdu by King Huai of Chu and exiled to northern Han. Qu Yuan was expelled from Yingdu, and during his exile, Qu Yuan felt depressed and began to create literature, in which his works were filled with nostalgia for Chu Di and Chu Feng and enthusiasm for serving the people. His works are gorgeous, with peculiar imagination, novel metaphors, and profound connotations, and have become one of the origins of Chinese literature.

In 278 BC, the Qin general Bai Qi waved his troops south and broke through the Yingdu, and Qu Yuan died in despair and grief by throwing a large stone into the Miluo River. 1953 was the 2,230th anniversary of Qu Yuan's death, and the World Peace Council passed a resolution to identify Qu Yuan as one of the four cultural celebrities in the world commemorated that year.
