The first thing your machine recognizes is the structure of the GPT partition table, not the GUID, which is a globally unique identifier. There's not that the MBR doesn't recognize, it's just that your BIOS is UEFI. If you want it to recognize the MBR, just go to the BIOS, and in the boot field, change UEFI to Legacy BIOS.

However, Legacy BIOS does not support GPT partitions.
