Robert Falcon Scott, born June 6, 1868 in Devonport, England, died March 29, 1912 in Antarctica, was a British naval officer and polar explorer. Scott joined the British Navy in 1881 and was promoted to captain in 1891. In 1900 began his first expedition to Antarctica, the target of which was the Ross Sea, where he discovered and named the Edward VII Peninsula.
He returned to England in 1904. The related travelogue "Journey of Discovery" was the best-selling book in the UK.
September 2, 1908 he with Kathleen. Bruce married, and the two had a son, Peter.
