China and the United States have reached many important consensuses, and we both believe that China and the United States have extensive common interests and important responsibilities in maintaining world peace, stability and prosperity, and that the two sides will expand cooperation in various fields on the basis of mutual benefit and reciprocity, manage differences and contradictions on the basis of mutual respect, strengthen mutual understanding and friendship between the two peoples, cooperate to address major regional and global challenges, and promote the sustained, healthy and stable development of China-US relations.

The main thing between China and the United States is cooperation, and there are very extensive and close exchanges between the two peoples, and before I came here, I saw the latest figures in an American poll, which shows that the American people's favorability of China is more than 50 percent, the highest number in the past 30 years, and it has been continuously improving in recent years. I hope that when journalists see the problems, they will also see the growth of these positive factors.

As the largest developing country and the largest developed country in the world, China-US cooperation will benefit both countries and the world. If there is competition between China and the United States, it should also be benign and active, and this is also very normal in international exchanges. In other words, China and the United States can compete, not as rivals, but as partners.

China will continue to adhere to the development path it has chosen, and China's development and rejuvenation are unstoppable, which has become a common recognition of the international community. Some people in the United States believe that China will therefore replace the role of the United States in the international arena, which is a fundamental strategic miscalculation. We are following the path of socialism with Chinese characteristics, the core essence of which is to adhere to peaceful development, and our success lies in win-win cooperation.

This is completely different from the path that the traditional powers have taken, and it is being recognized and welcomed by more and more countries. In other words, the more China develops, the more it can contribute to the world.

Of course, China still has a long way to go to modernize itself, and we will not and do not need to replace the role of the United States. China and the United States should respect each other, complement each other's strengths and achieve mutual benefit and win-win results on the basis of abiding by the three China-US joint communiqués and the consensus reached by both sides. China-US relations have gone through ups and downs for decades, but dialogue and cooperation have always been the main line, because this is the only wise and realistic choice.

Everyone is concerned about the friction between China and the United States. What I want to tell you is that the lessons of history have proved that fighting a war is never the right way to solve problems. Especially in today's globalized world, the choice of war is the wrong prescription, and the result will only harm others and itself, and China will definitely make a legitimate and necessary response.

As two major countries with highly integrated interests, and as the world's largest and second largest economies, China and the United States are responsible not only to the people of the two countries, but also to the rest of the world. We still hope that the two sides will sit down calmly and work together to find a mutually beneficial and win-win solution through equal and constructive dialogue.

The relationship between China and the United States is very complicated.
