This one varies from person to person! I have a colleague who said that pads are harder to learn than protel99. But I personally find pads a little bit easier. Maybe it's because I learned first, and then I used pads to work.

My advice is, if you are good at English, learn pads! Generally, if you are looking for a job, the salary with pads is a little higher.

If you are not good at English, learn Protel99 first, or upgrade to Altium Designer. Because this one has a Chinese menu. Only a small part of it is in English.

If the design involves a COB package (die is attached to the board and connected by a bon wire), it is best to use pads. I didn't find a similar feature module between Protel99t and the upgraded version of Altium Designer.

One of the benefits of the upgraded version of Altium Designer is that you can insert a very realistic 3D model in Step format and export it with the backplate. The chassis can then be virtually assembled and validated in CAD software.

This is not possible with the current pads.

99 and pads I think 99 is much easier, maybe learn 99 first, as for the cob upstairs, it's not a problem at all, it's just that he doesn't know, if you just want to focus on PCB, then mg or Ali dog can be, if there are not many board layers, 99 is enough, each has its own advantages and disadvantages, depending on the actual situation. It is recommended to understand them all. Subsequent versions of Protel are very feature-rich, and it feels like Altium Design will become mainstream in the future.

As the configuration of the computer increases, the disadvantages of Altium Design will be reduced. I feel that the pads are a bit unenterprising, especially the schematic. I can't make a sticker, so give it points.

Let me tell you this.,Tell me how I feel before the year I have been using Protel.,From Protel98,To Protel99,99SE,DXP2004,To later,,To this version is basically used very little.,Of course, now it's also installedAD10,This is not mainly used as a board to convert files, I think it's very good.,Hehe.。

In 08 years or so, I also struggled, whether to use protel, what software to use to make the board next, at that time I knew an old engineer, still using the DOS version of protel, you may not have used, it is a software called tango, the board is also very good (he often said that it doesn't matter what software is practical, the key is to look at the circuit skills, I also see it this way at the beginning), but I found that the error rate is too high, often to rework and reproof, the efficiency is too low, I often make a board, and it takes several weeks to renovate, repair, and proof.

Later, I also struggled with what to use, using Cadence's Allegro or Mentor Graphics' Power PCB (Pads), after struggling for a while, I still chose Pads, because Cadence is really powerful, but we usually use very few functions, it is a bit difficult to learn, at most make a 4-layer board, and use a knife to kill chickens, so I think it's okay to choose Pads.

So, from the beginning of the power PCB to pads2005, 2005SP2, 2007 ,,, to the present, now often used is to use the logic of pads to draw the schematic, then use the layout layout, and then use the router to draw the line, and the high-speed will occasionally be Hyperlynx imitation.

In fact, it feels like Protel is becoming more and more like Pads, and Pads is becoming more and more like Protel.

It has always been believed that the protel is the most professional and gorgeous among the amateurs, and the pads are the more amateurs among the majors.

Protel is better, more classic and easy to use.

At the end of 2005, Protel Tutorial.

Altium Corporation, the original manufacturer of Protel software, has introduced the latest high-end version of the Protel family, Altium Designer Designer, a new version of a fully integrated electronic product development system and the industry's first and only complete board-level design solution. Altium Designer is the industry's first product to combine design flow, integrated PCB design, programmable device (e.g., FPGA) design, and embedded software development for processor-based design, providing a solution for both PCB and FPGA design and embedded design, with all the functionality needed to take a design from concept to final product.

This latest high-end release, Altium Designer 6In addition to fully inheriting the features and benefits of the previous series of versions including 99SE, Protel2004, many improvements and many high-end features have been added. Altium Designer pushes the boundaries of board-level design by fully integrating FPGA design capabilities with SoPC design implementation, allowing engineers to integrate FPGAs in system designs with PCB design as well as embedded designs.

Protel is recommended for drawing single-sided boards and simple boards, pads for drawing large boards and multi-layer boards
