China's volcanoes are mainly distributed in the Tengchong volcanic group, the northern part of the plateau, Taiwan Island, and Taihang Mountain.

1. Tengchong volcanic group.

Located on the west side of Gaoligong Mountain in the southern section of the Hengduan Mountains in western Yunnan, the volcano and lava flow form a long strip extending north-south with Tengchong County as the center, with an area of 87 33 square kilometers, and there are more than 70 volcanic cones, of which 22 are intact craters, 10 are damaged, and the rest are volcanoes without craters. 3. Taiwan Island.

Located in the Pacific Rim Volcanic Belt, the northern Datun volcanic group is the product of volcanic activity in the early Pleistocene and late Pleistocene, and there are volcanic islands such as the Penghu Islands. 4. Taihang Mountain.

Northeast. It is the area with the largest number of Cenozoic volcanoes in China, with a total of 34 volcanic groups, more than 640 volcanoes, and a large area of lava cover. It is mainly distributed in the Changbai Mountains, the Daxing'an Mountains, the Northeast Plain and the Songliao Watershed, and has the characteristics of wide range of activities, high intensity, many eruption periods and high distribution density.

There are China's largest lava dam lakes - Jingpo Lake, Wudalianchi Volcanic Group, Changbai Mountain Volcanic Cone and so on.

The Inner Mongolia Plateau is also an area with frequent volcanic activity in the late Cenozoic in China, and in the middle of the Inner Mongolia Plateau centered on the Xilin Gol League, there are large lava platforms composed of basalt from the end of the Tertiary to the beginning of the Quaternary, with a total area of about 10,000 square kilometers, second only to the Changbai Mountains.

The terrace is regularly lined with many Quaternary extinct volcanic cones. According to its distribution, it can be divided into three parts: Bayantuga lava platform, Abaga volcanic group and Dalenor lava platform.

It is mainly distributed in Northeast China, Inner Mongolia, the northern part of Shanxi and Hebei provinces, Leizhou Peninsula, Hainan Island, Tengchong in Yunnan, Qiangtang Plateau, Taiwan, the eastern foothills of Taihang Mountain, and the North China Plain. Among them, Northeast China is the region with the most Cenozoic volcanoes in China, and Taiwan is located in the Pacific Rim Volcanic Belt.

Most of China's volcanic activity belongs to the continental margin volcanoes of the Pacific Rim Volcanic Belt, which are the product of Himalayan orogeny.

The degree of volcanic activity in China is relatively low, and the number of mega-eruptions is small, causing less damage and damage.
