The historical cause is that the migration of the hukou can follow the transfer of grain and oil, and the grain and oil plan will be allocated to the school, and the reason is nothing more than easy management, of course, it is also beneficial for students in some areas, such as students in the west to study in the east, and the hukou can move out naturally, which saves a talent training fee compared to moving out after graduation (the current outflow of talents in the western region is restricted).

Legal analysis: There is no rule that you must move your hukou when you are studying in college, and it mainly depends on whether you want to move or not. You can go to the household registration police station with the admission notice to print a certificate of household registration migration and take it to the police station where the school is located for processing.

Legal basis: "Regulations of the People's Republic of China on Household Registration" Article 10 If a citizen moves out of the jurisdiction of his or her household registration, he or the head of the household shall report to the household registration authority for moving out of the household registration before moving out, obtain the migration certificate, and cancel the household registration.

Citizens moving from rural areas to urban areas must apply to the household registration authorities of their permanent residence for moving out with a certificate of employment from the urban labor department, a certificate of admission to a school, or a certificate of permission to move in from the urban household registration authority.

Citizens moving to border areas must obtain the approval of the public security organs of the county, city, or municipal district where they habitually reside.

The documents and procedures that need to be prepared to change the hukou when you go to university.

1. The household registration booklet, ID card and admission notice are all ready, and go to the household registration department of the police station where the household registration is located to go through the procedures for the household registration migration certificate.

2. The household registration migration certificate (or household registration card) is limited to the person, and the official seal of the public security organ is complete. The name, date of birth, ethnicity and ID number on the household migration certificate must be exactly the same as the person's resident ID card, and there can be no homophones or variants. The name on the Hukou Migration Certificate must also be the same as the name on the admission letter.

The nationality and place of birth columns on the migration certificate must be filled in to the province (city) and county, and the handwriting on the migration certificate must be clear.

3. Those who do not transfer their hukou at the time of enrollment are not allowed to apply for transfer during the school period. After moving to the school, you are not allowed to move out during your studies.

4. The validity period of the household registration migration certificate is generally not more than one month (30 days), and you can go to the household registration police station to apply for it within the validity period as necessary.

5. Before the start of school, the school will organize the procedures for the students' household registration to move in.

Hukou migration: In order to facilitate the unified management of students' hukou, the school requires students to move their hukou to the location of the school, and this hukou will be retained for two years after graduation.

There are two main factors that make it necessary to move the hukou:

1. Whether the location of the school is better and more convenient than the place of origin, and the number of people who move their household registration to the location of the school can enjoy the benefits of local residents during the school period.

2. Whether you plan to stay in your hometown to work after graduation, if you don't stay in your hometown, you can move your hukou out, and after graduation, you can transfer your hukou directly from the school to the place of work, which is more convenient, otherwise you need to go home to handle the hukou migration.
