In August 1958, the Gansu Provincial Islamic Association held its second enlarged meeting to discuss the issue of "anti-feudal privileges". At the meeting, 24 people from the upper religious circles of Linxia, including Ma Shaowen, Ma Jincheng, Ma Xiao, Ma Guozhong, Ma Guocang, Ma Guocheng, Ka Mingcai, Ma Guobin, and Ma Fugong, were arrested and sentenced on charges of instigating a counterrevolutionary rebellion. Beginning on September 1, the counties held 'imam meetings', which lasted for a month, and the main content was the religious reform and [anti-feudal privileges].

The Chronicles of Linxia Hui Autonomous Prefecture recorded: "In August 1958, during the second enlarged meeting of the Gansu Provincial Islamic Association, a counterrevolutionary armed rebellion broke out in some villages in Guanghe and Dongxiang counties in Linxia Prefecture, and 24 people including Ma Shaowen, Ma Jincheng, and Ma Xiao, who were among the religious elites in Linxia, were arrested and sentenced for instigating a counterrevolutionary rebellion. In 1972, according to the spirit of the first document, Linxia Prefecture organized a special review of the project.

On September 7, 1978, the Gansu Provincial Revolutionary Committee approved the review and handling of the 1958 counter-revolutionary rebellion, and found that Ma Guozhong, Ma Guocang, Ma Guocheng, Ka Mingcai, Ma Guobin, and Ma Fugong were the masterminds and planners of the counter-revolutionary armed rebellion in Guanghe and Dongxiang, and were designated as counter-revolutionaries; The involvement of Zhao Ziwen and the other six in the rebellion was denied and their reputation was restored. In 1979, the Provincial Revolutionary Committee approved the rejection of the participation of 12 people, including Ma Shaowen, Ma Jincheng, and Ma Xiao, in the rebellion, and restored their reputations.

From the end of 1959 to 1972, three rounds of review and clean-up were carried out on the issue of the expansion of counterinsurgency. In 1982, in accordance with the spirit of the document of the Gansu Provincial Committee of the Communist Party of China, a comprehensive clean-up was carried out again, and except for Ma Guobin, Ma Guozhen and other 27 people who upheld the original verdict, the rest of the people involved were all denied or rehabilitated.

In August 1958, after the rebellion was put down, the subsequent anti-feudal struggle against religious feudal privileges and the system of oppression and exploitation was victorious. However, from 1959 to 1962, in accordance with the unified arrangements of the provincial party committee, 16,849 people were reviewed, cleared up, sentenced and released in the course of the expansion of the counterinsurgency and anti-feudal struggle. In November 1972, in accordance with the spirit of the first deployment, it was divided into phases and batches, which lasted 15 months, and cleared up the cases involving 20,830 people who participated in the rebellion, of which 19,112 were rehabilitated, accounting for the total number of liquidations.

In 1982, in addition to upholding the original verdict of 181 people, 1,074 people killed on the battlefield and 21 people whose whereabouts were unknown were dealt with, and the rest were issued with certificates of rehabilitation, rulings, and 220,000 yuan in subsidies for unjust imprisonment. ”
