Above the confluence of the Liuchong River is the upstream, from the confluence to Sinan is the middle reach, and below Sinan is the downstream. The Wujiang River system is plume-shaped, the topography of the basin is high in the southwest and low in the northeast, and the karst development in the basin is developed. The terrain is dominated by plateaus, mountain plains, middle mountains and low hills.
Due to the large difference in elevation and strong cutting, the vertical change of the natural landscape is obvious. It is famous for its rapids, many beaches and narrow valleys, and is known as "natural risk".

From the source of the river to the Wujiang River crossing for the upper reaches, the length is 448 kilometers, the drop is 1636 meters, the average specific drop, the river valley is cut deeply, the slope is steep and the flow is rapid.

After the canyon is out of the canyon in the middle reaches of Yuqing County, the river surface is widened to more than 200 meters, and the water potential is gentle, but there are many reefs and dangerous shoals.
The mountains in the basin are undulating, and the limestone strata are widely distributed, and there are many karst caves and underground flows. The total annual average runoff in the basin is 50.3 billion cubic meters. The theoretical reserves of hydropower resources are 10,000 kilowatts, and there are 266 hydropower resources that can be developed, with an installed capacity of 10,000 kilowatts.

A tributary of the upper reaches of the Yangtze River in China. It is also known as the Qianjiang River. It originates in the mountainous areas of northern Guizhou Province and eastern Sichuan Province, flows northeast to Wujiang River in Xifeng County, and then turns into Chongqing Municipality through Sinan and Yanhe counties, and flows into the Yangtze River in Fuling.

The middle reaches pass through the Da Lou Mountain and the Wuling Mountain, forming a special box-shaped river valley, the valley is deep and the water is rapid, and the dangerous shoals are connected.
In January 1 6 53, 1935, the Chinese Workers' and Peasants' Red Army crossed the Wujiang River many times during the Long March. After the river has been renovated, nearly 500 kilometers in the middle and lower reaches can be navigated by motor boats.

On the edge of the Yangtze River in Wujiang Town, in the east of Hexian County, Anhui Province, there is a tributary of the Yangtze River called Wujiang River in that place, and because the Yangtze River in that place is basically in a north-south direction, it is said that Xiang Yu "refused to cross the Jiangdong".
The decisive battle of Wujiang. Xiang Yu commanded the twenty-eight horsemen, rushed back and forth, once again opened a bloody road, and walked southward, to the Wujiang River (now Wujiangpu on the Yangtze River in the northeast of Anhui and County), and felt that he had no shame to see the Jiangdong fathers, so he ordered all the horsemen to dismount, and fought with the Han soldiers with short weapons, Xiang Yu killed hundreds of Han soldiers alone, and his body was also wounded by more than ten wounds, and finally killed himself at the age of 31.
After the death of Xiang Yu, the Han army annihilated 80,000 Chu troops, and all Chu lands surrendered to Han, and the Lu people in the original fiefdom of Xiang Yu refused to surrender (King Huai of Chu had named Xiang Yu as the Duke of Lu), and then Liu Bang showed Xiang Yu's head to Lu, and the Lu people surrendered. So far, the Chu-Han War, which lasted for four and a half years, finally ended with Liu Bang's victory.
