Walter Brown is a famous American sports personality. He was the head coach of the U.S. ice hockey team at the 1936 Berlin Olympics and founded the Boston Celtics basketball team in 1946. Brown served as president of the Boston Celtics until his death on September 7, 1964.

As one of the Boss members, Brown was instrumental in the merger of the NBL and BAA into the NBA today. But the Celtic dynasty is clearly a bigger achievement. After Brown's death, the NBA named the NBA championship trophy in his honor.

On October 13, 1965, Walter Brown was inducted into the Basketball Hall of Fame.
