Muren had no choice but to ask the Buddha for help, and the Buddha was moved by Muren's filial piety and granted him the Bon Sutra.

According to the instructions, on the 15th day of the seventh lunar month, Muren offered his mother a vegetarian meal with a Bon Shengguo vegetarian fast. The starving mother finally got food. To commemorate Meren's filial piety, Buddhists have a grand "Bon Festival" every year, which we now call "Halloween".
