Commentary on the Great Treasure Sutra of the Treasure Accumulation Sutra

The sutras on the practice of bodhisattvas and the conferral of Buddhahood are general discussions on the main methods of Mahayana Buddhism.

The Great Treasure Accumulation Sutra", also known as the "Treasure Accumulation Sutra", translated by the Tang Dynasty Bodhi Liuzhi and others, all one or two volumes, collected in the eleventh volume of the Taizheng Collection. It is a compilation of scriptures on the practice of bodhisattvas and the conferral of Buddhahood. Baoji, that is, the meaning of 'accumulating magic weapons'.

Because it is the profound and wonderful method of Mahayana, it is called 'treasure';The method of gathering immeasurable, so it is called 'accumulation'.

The whole scripture counts 49 guilds (departments), among them, the translators of the Wei, Jin, Southern and Northern Dynasties, Sui and Tang dynasties, with different scripture names, have successively translated more than 80 volumes of 23 guilds, which are called 'old translations';The new translation of the Twenty-six Societies and the Thirty-Nine and a Half Volumes of the Bodhi Liuzhi is called the 'New Translation', and this sutra is a combined version of the old and new translations. "The Great Treasure Accumulation Sutra Jingju Tianzi Hui" hereinafter referred to as "Jingju Tianzi Hui", formerly known as "Dream Saying", was first seen in the "Catalogue of the Scriptures and the Lost Translation of the Scriptures" written by the Fajing in the 14th year of the Kaihuang Emperor (594 AD). Although the Taisho Shinshu Tripitaka Survey Catalogue records that the society was translated by Zhu Fahu (c. 266-313 AD), it is the earliest sutra and at the same time the closest sutra to the time of Zhu Fahu.

Between 502 and 518 AD, this sutra was not included in the "Collection of Records of the Three Tibets" compiled by the monk of the Liang Dynasty. It can be seen that there may be problems with the translator and the age of translation of this sutra. Regardless of these difficult issues, the meeting should pay attention to his unique content.

It narrates that the World-Honored One was asked by the Vajra Bodhisattva to explain in a series of ways the reasons for dreaming about one hundred and eight dreams and the relative practice methods for future Bodhisattvas. In other words, from this sutra to what kind of dream it is, it is a certain place of the Bodhisattva, and it appears in every long line commentary, it can be said that every dream has the effect of confirming the bodhisattva's rank. Isn't it worth noting that this particular theme is related to dreams, such as the Sutras of the Seven Dreams of Ananda, and other texts of omen, such as the Sutra of the Seven Dreams of the Shravaka, and the Mahayana Shutaras, such as the Sutra of the Great Prajnaparamita: The Fifth Sixth of the Second Division of Dreams, etc., which are used to illustrate the meaning of emptiness, etc.?

The content of the whole sutra is a general discussion of the various main methods of Mahayana Buddhism, covering a wide range of mills, each of which is equivalent to a sutra, and each has its own independent theme, such as the forty-six sessions of 'Manjushri says Prajna', which mainly deals with the idea of 'Prajna emptiness';The fifth meeting, 'Amitayus Nyorai Meeting', proclaims the belief in the Pure Land of Mida;As in the first place.

In addition, the various divisions of this sutra are also very diverse, such as the 14th Society, the Buddha's Teachings on the Birth of Tibetan Society, the 1st Society, the 23rd Society, the Mahakaya Society, the 46th Society, the Manjushri Society, and the 47th Society, the Bodhisattva Society, which belong to the Hinayana Division, the 1st Society, the 3rd Laws and Rituals, and the 23rd Society, the Mahakaya Society, which belong to the Law Division, the 46th Society, the Manjushri Prajna Society, and the 47th Society, the Bodhisattva Society, which belong to the Great Collection.

Therefore, it can be said that although each meeting of the whole sutra has its own characteristics, if it is taken as a whole, it lacks a consistent system. Among the 26 Guilds translated by Bodhi Liuzhi, 11 of the 22 volumes were translated for the first time, and the remaining 15 were re-translated.

"The Treasure Accumulation Sutra", the full name of the "Great Treasure Accumulation Sutra", means "the gathering of treasures", an important Buddhist scripture, one of the five major parts of the Mahayana Sutra. Based on the Mahayana scriptures on emptiness, the sutra expounds the teachings of the Buddha since Aham, while also emphasizing the idea of selflessness and yoga practice.
