From 1970 to 1978, he was engaged in the pre-research of China's new fighter flying socks engine, and won the Major Achievement Award of the National Defense Science and Technology Commission. From 1978 to 1990, he studied under Academician Wu Zhonghua and engaged in the numerical method research of transonic three-dimensional flow field. From 1990 to 1993, under the guidance of Professor Bian Yingui, a well-known computational fluid mechanics scientist in China, he was engaged in solving the n-s equation of the three-chamber dimension of the internal and external flow fields of the high-speed air intake.
From 1993 to 1996, he was engaged in the calculation of transonic three-dimensional turbulence field of compressor rotor. From 1996 to 2002, he was engaged in the calculation of 3D complex flow fields under unstructured meshes. Since 2002, he has been introduced by Tsinghua University as a well-known professor and subject leader to teach and engage in discipline construction, and has established the doctoral program of human-machine and environmental engineering and the master's program of engineering thermophysics of the university, and served as the leader of the first two disciplines.
He is currently the leader of the doctoral program in fluid mechanics.

The railway industry standard "Measurement Method for Railway Integrated Grounding System" has been reviewed and approved by the meeting and entered the IEC standard draft procedure. The lightning high current and SPD series test technology and complete sets of equipment presided over by him have been well applied in various enterprises and test research units. In recent years, he has been engaged in the research of the aging characteristics of composite insulators, and has developed and improved the distinctive single-factor and comprehensive environmental aging test equipment, test systems and evaluation methods.
Scientific research and experimental research are being carried out on lightning protection in wind farms, lightning protection for a certain type of national defense system, rocket lightning guidance, lightning physics and lightning monitoring technology, corrosion characteristics of substation grounding grid, grounding network safety assessment technology, pollution external insulation and real-time monitoring technology. The undergraduate graduation project supervised by him won the first prize of Hubei Province Excellent Bachelor's ** twice.
