    About the Author:

Li Bai (701-762), the character Taibai, the name Qinglian layman. He is the most distinctive and greatest romantic poet after Qu Yuan. It has the reputation of "poet immortal", and is called "Li Du" together with Du Fu.

His poems are mainly lyrical, showing the arrogant spirit of contempt for the powerful, sympathizing with the people's suffering, and being good at depicting natural scenery and expressing his love for the mountains and rivers of the motherland. The style of poetry is majestic and bold, the imagination is rich, the language is fluent, the rhythm is harmonious and changeable, and it is good at absorbing nutrients and materials from folklore and myths and legends, constituting its unique and brilliant colors, reaching the peak of poetry art in the Tang Dynasty. There are more than 1,000 surviving poems, including 30 volumes of "Li Taibai Collection".

    Background:

This poem was written in the thirteenth year of Emperor Xuanzong of the Tang Dynasty (754) or the fourteenth year of Tianbao (755), when Li Bai roamed from Qiupu to Jing County (present-day Anhui). Wang Lun is Li Bai's friend. The annotations of "Li Baiji", "Three Hundred Tang Poems" and "All Tang Poems" published in the past dynasties all identify Wang Lun as an ordinary villager that Li Bai met when he traveled to Jing County, and this point of view has continued to this day.

During the Kaiyuan Tianbao period, Wang Lun was the commander of Jing County, and Li Bai "waited for it, and he couldn't bear to say goodbye" (Li Zilong's "About Wang Lun and His People"). After Wang Lun's term of office expired, he resigned and lived in Taohuatan in Jing County. According to this poem, it may be written by Li Bai when Wang Lun has been living in Peach Blossom Pond.

    Appreciation:

The first two lines of the poem depict when Li Bai was about to leave, and Wang Lun rushed to see him off. The third sentence uses "Peach Blossom Lake is a thousand feet deep" to describe the depth of Wang Lun's farewell emotion, and the last sentence expresses Li Bai's sincere and deep friendship with Wang Lun.

    It is an ancient poem.

"Gift to Wang Lun" is a farewell poem written by Li Bai to his local friend Wang Lun when he traveled to Huatan in Jing County (now southern Anhui).

Li Baichun with the luck of the pen, completely abandoned the law of writing, although the poem is straightforward, but the meaning is not endless, the poet and friends of the emotion has been fully embodied in the poem, the poem is unintentional, but the poem has a simple and honest meaning leisurely. Therefore, the direct use of one's own and the names of his friends in the poem does not seem vulgar, on the contrary, it is more straightforward.
