Yan Zhenqing lost his father since he was a child, and his family was poor. But he was diligent and studious, and practiced calligraphy tirelessly. In order to learn calligraphy, Yan Zhenqing first learned from Chu Suiliang, and later worshiped under Zhang Xu.

Yan's Family Temple Tablet", calligraphy is rich, is one of his proud works in his later years, compared with his early works more vigorous atmosphere, is the representative work of his later years.
