Lily Zhang, whose parents are both from Xi'an, also contains her parents' concern for her hometown in her Chinese name. Zhang An's mother used to be a table tennis player, and his father also liked table tennis very much. Under the influence of his parents, Zhang An began to contact table tennis at the age of 7 and has been playing for 5 years now.
Zhang An goes to Xi'an with his father every summer and speaks Mandarin quite well. Zhang An's most admired table tennis star is the "first sister of national table tennis" Zhang Chao Yining.

He graduated from Union Medical College in 1943 with a doctorate degree in medicine. After the founding of the People's Republic of China, he successively served as deputy director, associate professor and professor of the Department of Internal Medicine of Beijing and Peking Union Medical College, chairman of the Special Committee on Blood Transfusion and Hematology of the Medical Science Committee of the Ministry of Health, and vice chairman of the Hematology Society of the Chinese Medical Association. He has rich clinical experience and unique insights in the diagnosis and treatment of hematological diseases, and is one of the pioneers of hematology in China.
He is the co-editor of "Fundamentals of Diagnostics" and "Practical Oncology".
