Why is the direction of biological evolution not immortality , but reproduction?

The direction of biological evolution is reproduction, but it is not "immortality", because "immortality" does not conform to the laws of nature. Everything in nature will disappear one day, and the pursuit of eternal life is better than living every day now, so that it is the best and most effective.

Because the immortality of the individual means that the ability to face disasters is lower, which is contrary to the principle of direction of evolution.
