The Golden Arhat is a fictional character written by Wu Chengen, and there is no so-called Golden Arhat in Buddhism.
An arhat is the highest attainment of the four fruits of Hinayana Buddhism, with vast supernatural powers and can incarnate as a cash body at will. The three realms have been cut off, and the two confusions are thought, although there is no attachment, but there are differences.
Bodhisattvas have a total of fifty-two ranks, from the lowest bodhisattva of the first heart to the highest bodhisattva of wonderful enlightenment. The levels and realms are very different.
On the path to liberation, an arhat is equivalent to a bodhisattva in the seven Mahayana lands. But judging from the Mahayana Bodhi standard, the arhats are still far inferior to the bodhisattvas of the seven lands.

It's the difference in the fruit position. The fruit of enlightenment is in this order; The fruit of Si Tohan, the fruit of Void Dharma, the fruit of Anahan, the fruit of the Arhat, the fruit of the Great Arhat (the golden body of the Arhat), the fruit of the Bodhisattva (from one place to the ten places of the Bodhisattva). Buddha fruit, Buddha fruit.

Around the 1st century AD, Buddhism was divided into Mahayana Buddhism and Theravada Buddhism, and the main difference between the two was that there were disagreements in the interpretation and understanding of Buddhist teachings. Hinayana maintains the original teachings, with Shakyamuni as the leader and the Ahama Sutra as the main scripture; Mahayana, on the other hand, has modified and developed the original teachings, believing that there are countless Buddhas in the three worlds and ten directions, and that the Prajna Sutra, the Vima Sutra, the Lotus Sutra, the Huayan Sutra, and the Amitayus Sutra are the main scriptures, while the Hinayana school considers itself orthodox, and the Mahayana school considers itself to be innovative. 2.

Among them, the perfection of enlightenment is the highest state of Buddhist practice, and the Buddha is the enlightened one who has attained this highest state. In addition, the Buddha mentioned in Theravada Buddhism is generally used as an honorific title for Shakyamuni; In addition to Shakyamuni, Mahayana Buddhism also refers to all those who have attained enlightenment. (2) Classification of Buddhas a

Buddha, Bodhisattva, Arhat, Vajra Rank (from high to low): Buddha, Bodhisattva, Arhat.
Buddha is the highest attainment of Buddhist practice. Enlightenment has three meanings: realization, enlightenment (enlightenment of sentient beings), and enlightenment and perfection. Arhats lack the last two, bodhisattvas lack the latter, and only Buddhas have all three.
Therefore, the rank from high to low is Buddha, Bodhisattva, Arhat, in the Song Dynasty, Su Dongpo was praised for the above-mentioned paintings. It is believed that the seventeenth arhat of the eighteen arhats is the "Qingyou Venerable", that is, the author of the "Dharma Residence Record", and the eighteenth arhat is the "Bintou Luo Venerable" (a synonym for the first arhat. One said that it was a monk with a cloth bag.
Arhats and the concept of bodhisattvas and Buddhas
The Buddha mentioned in Hinayana Buddhism generally refers to Shakyamuni, and Mahayana Buddhism refers to all enlightened people in addition to Shakyamuni. Mahayana Buddhism believes that there are Buddhas everywhere in the three realms and ten directions, and their number is like the sand of the Ganges. In the past, there were seven Buddhas, the Buddha of Burning Lamps, in the future there will be Maitreya Buddha, in the East there will be Medicine Buddha, and in the West there will be Amitabha Buddha.
Speaking from the Buddha, there are also Dharmakaya Buddhas, Retribution Buddhas, and Avatar Buddhas.
Bodhisattva is a shortened transliteration of the Sanskrit word Bodhisattva. Bodhi means enlightenment, and samsar translates to sentient beings or beings. Mahayana Buddhism believes that it is not enough to take the arhat fruit as the goal of practice, and that one should practice the Buddha fruit, that is, to attain the state of becoming a Buddha.

1. Bodhisattva is also a position, regardless of gender. The difference lies in external abilities such as supernatural powers, and if you talk about rank, they are Buddhas, Bodhisattvas, and Arhats. The Buddha is like the chairman, and the other Buddhas are the shareholders.
Bodhisattva is the general manager of the branch. Luohan is the employee of each company, the golden-bodied Luohan is the small leader, and the eighteen Luohan is the manager.
2. At the beginning, before the Buddha became enlightened, the Bodhisattva was called an ordinary man, the Buddha and the Buddha of the Pizhi Buddha, and the arhats were all arhats, and they were all enlightened people, and they were saints. The Buddha is the four Goa arhats, the Buddha is also the four fruits, and the arhats are also the four fruits.
3. The Buddha is so perfect, not becoming a Buddha is sorry for sentient beings, and nirvana is also irresponsible to sentient beings. But the Buddha didn't say how to become a Buddha? So the Bodhisattva path began to be invented, and the Bodhisattva worship also came, which was the beginning of Mahayanaization.
However, during this period, it was also generally recognized that Buddhas and arhats were also recognized.
4. In the real Mahayana period, the status of arhats and Buddhas continued to decline, and bodhisattvas were elevated to the position of less than or equal to Buddhas. Originally, there were only four fruits, and they were invented by Mahayana to cover ten places, and arhats are equivalent to covering eight places, but Guanyin Manjushri and Puxian are all in ten places. Buddha is in Yuanjue.
