What is castor oil?
Castor oil is an oil extracted from castor beans. The scientific name of castor beans is ricinus communis. Castor oil has long been used for a variety of ailments, but if you're old enough (thank goodness I'm not one of them), you may remember that people at the time liked to use it as a laxative, as well as to punish disobedient children.
Castor oil and hair growth: What might it do?
Although I haven't found any conclusive articles to determine whether it works or not, some say that castor oil works by promoting lymph node circulation in the scalp. Castor oil does contain a lot of nutrients, such as various vitamins and fatty acids, and a bunch of ** are used to boast about the hair growth effect of castor oil, but very few ** really come up with evidence to prove its effect.
Another theory is based on the inhibitory effect of a hormone-like substance called prostaglandin D2 (PGD2). Some studies have found that the scalp of balding people has higher levels of PGD2 compared to the general population. And one of the ingredients in castor oil, "castor acid", can inhibit the action of PGD2.
At least one article states that ricinoleic acid can inhibit PGD2 effects. Theoretically, inhibition of PGD2 should mean hair growth. However, there are still too few studies on the hair growth effect of ricinoleic acid based on human experiments.
If you're interested, I've found a review of PGD2 and hair loss, so you can learn more about the role of PGD2.
Study on the germinal effect of castor oil.
Regardless of the rationale, the best way to prove whether castor oil is useful is to see if there are any human studies – in vitro studies and animal experiments don't count. To find the corresponding studies, I looked up the following keywords at the National Library of Medicine:
Castor oil for hair.
Castor oil baldness.
Ricinus Communis Hair.
Ricinus communis bald.
Castor oil PGD2
ricinus communis pgd2
Unfortunately, I didn't find any evidence of the hair growth effects of castor oil. I've also seen on a lot of ** people saying that castor oil can also prevent hair loss. But again, I didn't find any evidence that it prevents hair loss.
I also couldn't find any human experiments to prove that blocking the PGD2 function on the scalp can restore hair growth or alleviate hair loss. If it is theoretically feasible but there are no relevant experiments to prove the correctness of the theory, this is also true.
I think the amount of orange peel lemon oil in the liver is greatly reduced, and this is because too much lemon oil is harmful to **.
