The School of Foreign Chinese Languages of Guangxi Normal University is the earliest foreign language department established in Guangxi. Its predecessor was the English Department of National Guilin Normal University, founded in July 1942, and its first head was Professor Chen Hansheng (1897-2004), a famous diplomat, educator, economist, and former member of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences.
