Qu yuan. The Warring States period in which it lived.
It was an extremely turbulent period in Chinese history, and from the social nature of it, it was a long-term feudal society in China.
A "transition period" of development and evolution: that is, a historical period of transformation from a feudal lordship society to a feudal landlord society. On the one hand, there is political turmoil and frequent wars, but on the other hand, there is an unprecedented prosperity of academic culture and the rapid development of science and technology.
It is in the midst of such contradictions, struggles, and tribulations that history is advancing toward reunification. Qu Yuan's era is indeed the era of the stars, and he is undoubtedly a brilliant star in this era.

Qu Yuan's era was an important period in Chinese history. During this period, the vassal states were constantly fighting wars to become the supremacy. And Qu Yuan, as the ** of the Chu State, advocated raising meritocracy, cultivating the law, and joining forces to resist Qin in order to realize the unification of the Chu State.
However, due to the sharp contradictions between Qu Yuan and the corrupt aristocratic group of the Chu State in domestic and foreign affairs, and because of the jealousy of Shangguan Dafu and others, Qu Yuan was later framed by the group and alienated by King Huai of Chu. In the fifteenth year of King Huai (304 BC), Zhang Yi went from Qin to Chu, bribed Jin Shang, Zilan, Zheng Sleeve and others to act as traitors with heavy money, and at the same time deceived King Huai with "600 miles of land dedicated to business". In the twenty-fourth year of King Huai of Chu (312 BC), in the battle of Danyang of Qin and Chu, Qu Yuan strongly opposed and angered King Huai of Chu, and was exiled to northern Han.
During his exile in northern Han, Qu Yuan had no hope of victory in the war between Chu and Qin, and felt that the country was dead and could not be saved, so he finally committed suicide by throwing himself into the river on the fifth day of the fifth month of the fifth month.

Qu Yuan, "Yuan" is his character, his real name is "Ping", who lived from about 340 BC to 278 BC, and was a native of Chu during the Warring States Period. He is a descendant of Qu Bian, the son of Xiong Tong, King of Chuwu, and was born a nobleman. Born in a wealthy family, he received an aristocratic education since he was a child, so he was well-informed and ambitious since he was a child.
When we were students, we all read his "Lisao", and the poem said: "Huang Lan Yu Chu Xi, Zhao Xi Yu is famous, the name Yu is Zhengxi, and the word Yu Lingjun." According to Qu Yuan's own words, his father named him "Zhengzheng", and the word is "Lingjun", so how can his name be "Ping" and the word "Yuan"?
Wang Yi of the Eastern Han Dynasty explained it this way in "Chu Ci Chapters and Sentences", "Zhengzhi": "Zheng, Pingye; then, the law also"; "Lingjun": "Spirit, God also; even, tune also"; "There is no one who is right and flat and can be lawless than the sky, and those who are evenly adjusted are not gods on the ground", so Qu's original name is "flat to the law", and the word "original law is the earth".
After reading this, I can only sigh that the ancients took so many twists and turns to choose a name!
Qu Yuan's achievements in literature are very high, he is the founder of romantic literature in China, the founder and representative writer of "Chu Ci", known as the "ancestor of Chu Ci", his works have had a profound impact on later generations, "Yi Xiang Wei Ci, Zhuo I" is the highest evaluation of him.
Although Qu Yuan was an aristocrat, he had the foresight and courage to change the law, he advocated "American politics", advocated the internal promotion of meritocracy, the cultivation of the law, and the external force to unite against Qin. Because the change touched the interests of the aristocracy, he was excluded and slandered by the nobles, and he was exiled to the northern Han and Yuanxiang valleys.
Later, Chu Guoying was broken by the Qin army, so the country was dead, Qu Yuan felt that "the world is turbid and I am alone, everyone is drunk and I am awake", self-sinking in the Miluo River, martyrdom. When the local people heard that Dr. Qu Yuan threw himself into the river, they participated in the salvage and rescue, but Qu Yuan's body was never seen; Later, he was worried that the fish and shrimp would eat his body, so he threw the rice balls he carried with him into the water to prevent the fish and shrimp from spoiling Qu Yuan's body. The day Qu Yuan threw himself into the river was the fifth day of the fifth month of May, which is the origin of the Dragon Boat Festival dragon boat racing and eating zongzi customs.
