The torch chose propane. After the combustion of propane, it mainly produces water vapor and carbon dioxide, which will not cause pollution to the environment.

More importantly, propane can adapt to a relatively wide temperature range, and can still produce more than 1 saturated vapor pressure at minus 40 degrees Celsius, which is higher than the outside atmospheric pressure, forming combustion; Moreover, the flame produced by the propane has a bright yellow color, and the dynamically fluttering flame stands out against different backgrounds when the torchbearers run.

An important innovation in the internal combustion system of the flare is the 'twin flame' scheme.
