What age are children and what is the age range for children?

According to the Convention on the Rights of the Child, a child is any person under the age of 18.

There are seven stages of children's age: fetal period, neonatal period, infancy, early childhood, preschool age, school age, and adolescence.

Fetal period: about 40 weeks from the formation of a fertilized egg to the birth of the child. The age of the fetus is the gestational age, or gestational age.

School age: From elementary school (6-7 years old) to pre-puberty.

Adolescence: The age range of puberty, from 11 to 12 years for girls and to 18 years for boys, from 13 to 14 years for boys, to 18 years of age.

According to the Convention on the Rights of the Child, children under the age of 18 are classified as children, so "adolescence" here is part of "children", which is slightly different from the medical age division of puberty.

The International Convention on the Rights of the Child defines a child as a person under the age of 18.

On 29 December 1991, the 23rd Session of the Standing Committee of the Seventh National People's Congress decided to ratify China's accession to the Convention on the Rights of the Child. According to the content of the Convention, the Convention defines "child" as "any person under the age of 18".
