Teacher s understanding of responsibility, teacher ethics and conscience

At a time when the society is paying special attention to teacher morality, when examining and reflecting on teacher ethics within education, and when strengthening teacher ethics education and improving teacher moral cultivation, it is wise to raise the question of "what is the bottom line of teacher morality" for discussion. In the past, we blindly talked about the spirit of "red candle", the spirit of "spring silkworm", and the "engineer of the human soul", which is the lofty realm of teachers' professional ethics, the ideal realm of our pursuit, and the "upper line" of teachers' morality. But an ideal is an ideal, and reality is a reality.

The reality is that the level of professional ethics of teachers is uneven, and some are declining. Therefore, proceeding from reality, in addition to putting forward the ideal height of teacher morality, there should also be a bottom line. Some people have suggested that the bottom line of teacher ethics is human nature, as if this bottom line is too low for teachers.

I think the bottom line of teacher ethics should be conscience.

One of the best sayings among us teachers for decades is: "Being a teacher is a job of conscience". This seems to be low-key, but the word "conscience" is not light, and it is not easy to really do it.

The connotation of conscience is actually very rich. First of all, conscience is sincerity. Mr. Tao Xingzhi said:

Thousands of teachings teach people to learn the truth, and thousands of studies learn to be real people", and take "truth" as the highest state of education. Now the word "true" is even more valuable, because there are too many fake things in society, and there are also many fake things on campus, such as shouting about quality education but doing exam-oriented education, making fake materials when the superiors inspect and evaluate, and even directing students to tell lies to get high scores, and so on. This kind of ideological style of deception and inconsistency in words and deeds has corrupted the school spirit and teaching style, and has led to the destruction of students.

Conscience is kindness and love. A teacher must be full of compassion, be benevolent, and love students. Mr. Tao Xingzhi said:

Whoever doesn't love the students can't teach them well. "What teachers who are self-respecting, who speak domineeringly, who punish students at every turn, and who insult their human dignity is kindness. The homeroom teacher who forced the student's mother to accompany her son for 20 days and did not forgive the student to commit suicide, the teacher who made the student drink urine in front of the class, and the female teacher who scratched the palms of 41 elementary school students, all of them did not have the moral cultivation of "do unto others what you would not have to do to others" and lacked conscience.

Conscience is dedication and responsibility. We must aspire to be a teacher for a lifetime, be willing to be poor, endure loneliness, do not envy the rich and flashy, and do not think of jumping ship and going to the sea. We "have no car, no food, no fish", but we have students who revere us, trust us, love us, and are innocent and kind, we are faced with dozens of pairs of eyes that are clear and thorough and thirsty for knowledge, we enjoy the true feelings of the world, and we cultivate seedlings into towering trees.

This is a spiritual pleasure that those who sit on the rostrum and in the car do not get. A small number of teachers live in the "rich hole" and "dirty land", let them go, and in the end it is real gold.

Conscience is a traditional virtue of the Chinese nation, and it still has a high moral education value in the new era, especially in the environment of moral anomie, it is appropriate to advocate conscience among teachers and take it as the bottom line of teachers' morality.

Teachers have the responsibility to let students know the bottom line, rather than taking advantage of immaturity to cross the line.

First of all, teaching is a very sacred profession, preaching and teaching. Those who are engaged in the teaching profession must have a clear understanding of the professional ethics of teachers.

Teachers' professional ethics are the sum of the behavioral norms and necessary moral qualities that teachers follow when engaging in educational labor, and the basic moral norms and codes of conduct that must be followed when regulating the relationship between teachers and others, teachers and society, as well as the moral concepts, sentiments and qualities that are manifested on this basis. The new "Professional Ethics Code for Teachers" has a total of six articles, which reflects the essential requirements of teachers' professional characteristics and the characteristics of the times, among which "love" and "responsibility" are the core and soul that run through them. Its content involves:

Patriotism and law-abiding, love and dedication, care for students, teaching and educating people, being a role model and lifelong learning six aspects. In order to make it easier for candidates to memorize, you can use the mantra "three loves, two people and one life".

From the individual aspect, teachers' professional conscience is the basic criterion for teachers' practice, and teachers start from the guidelines when carrying out their work, which is not only conducive to the development of education and teaching, but also conducive to restricting their own behavioral norms, killing two birds with one stone;

From the social aspect, teachers work with professional conscience, which is a kind of guarantee for the parents of young children, parents are more assured, and the campus environment is safer, which is conducive to the harmonious development of society.

The basic scope of teachers' professional ethics includes the following three aspects:

The phenomenon of teacher moral culture, the phenomenon of teacher moral quality, and the phenomenon of teacher moral activity.

The phenomenon of teacher moral activity is the sum total of the actions of teachers and all educators who unite for a common purpose and fulfill certain social functions.
