Be. The great monk of Fengtian Yu is Li Zicheng.

Li Zicheng (September 22, 1606 - May 17, 1645), formerly known as Hongji, small character Huang Laier, also known as Zaoer, leader of the peasant uprising in the late Ming Dynasty, lived in Yulin, Shaanxi Province. In his childhood, he shepherded sheep for the landlord and was a post boy in Yinchuan.

In the second year of Chongzhen (1629), he rebelled, and later became a general under Gao Yingxiang, the king of Chuang, who was brave and insightful. At the Xingyang Conference, he put forward a plan for dividing troops and orienting troops and attacking on four fronts, which was approved by the leaders of various departments.

After Gao Yingxiang died, he succeeded to the title of King Chuang. At that time, the Central Plains was suffering from a severe famine and the social class contradictions were extremely acute, so Li Yan put forward slogans such as "Juntian is exempt from taxation", which was welcomed by the broad masses of the people, and the army grew to one million people, becoming the main force in the rebel army.

In the sixteenth year of Chongzhen (1643), he called the king of Xinshun in Xiangyang, and annihilated the main force of Sun Chuanting, the governor of Shaanxi in Henan, and occupied Xi'an by victory. In the first month of the seventeenth year of Chongzhen (1644), the Dashun regime was established, and the year name was "Yongchang".

Soon conquered Beijing and overthrew the Ming Dynasty. In April, Dolgon led the Eight Banners Army to join forces with Wu Sangui, the general soldier of the Ming Dynasty, and fought Li Zicheng inside and outside Shanhaiguan. Li Zicheng was defeated, withdrew from Beijing, and led his army to resist the Qing army in Henan and Shaanxi.

In March of the second year of Shunzhi (1645), the Dashun army forced away Zuo Liangyu, a general of the Southern Ming Dynasty, and occupied Wuchang. However, the Dashun army was not fully prepared, and the Qing army suddenly attacked by land and water, and Li Zicheng hastily abandoned Wuchang and marched southeast. On May 17, the second year of Shunzhi (1645), he was mistakenly killed by villagers in Jiugong Mountain, Tongcheng County, Hubei.

Legendary figures, not historical. It is said that King Li Chuang of Jiugong Mountain did not die after his defeat but became a monk, that is, the monk Fengtianyu.

Yes. At the end of the Ming Dynasty, whether Li Zicheng, the leader of the Dashun Peasant Army, became a monk after the defeat of the army, there have been different opinions for more than 300 years. It became an unsolved case.

A few years ago, the ashes of the tomb of the monk Fengtianyu, the brick carving "Tower Ming" were found in Shimen Jiashan, Hunan, and the woodcut version of "Plum Blossom Hundred Rhymes" made by Li Zicheng, so the monk Fengtianyu became the object of heated discussion. Because whether or not Feng Tianyu's identity can be found out is closely related to understanding whether Li Zicheng has been a monk.

Some people believe that according to various facts, the monk Fengtianyu is Li Zicheng. First, according to He Lan's field investigation in Jiashan, he saw a 70-year-old monk who had served the monk Fengtianyu and had an accent like that of a Shaanxi person, and he told He Lan that Fengtianyu came to the temple in the early days of Shunzhi, and took out his portrait to see "Xiao looks like Li Zicheng as recorded in the history books". Second, in the sixteenth year of Chongzhen (1643), Li Zicheng was "Generalissimo of Fengtian Righteousness", and later called "King Xinshun".

The self-named "Fengtian Jade" is "Fengtian King" plus a little to conceal it. Third, there is a poem "Dongge Plum" in the woodcut version of "Plum Blossom Hundred Rhymes" newly discovered in Jiashan, which says, "Xu listens to the three princes talking about politics", which is very different from that of the monk, and is like the emperor listening to the old discussion of the three princes.
