Step 2, then set it on the left side of the software, and select "Custom" as the naming method. Then enter a new file name in the next column; Finally, set the number (sorting) below, the beginning is the first sorting number, the increment is the amount of the next number increment, and the number of digits is set to the number of digits in the sorting number (if it is not enough, use 0 to make up). On the right, you can preview the name of the new file at any time.

Step 3: If there is no problem with the new file name previewed, click the [Start Rename] button to start the batch modification process. The Rename Successful button pops up to indicate that the batch processing is complete.

Step 4: Check the modified file and you can see that the new file name is more standardized and neat than before, and there is a numerical order.

Select all, then right-click to select the first one, change the first **name, and all ** will be renamed in batches.

Ctrl+C to duplicate the current selection, Ctrl+D to open the "Add Collection" panel (to add the current page to favorites), Ctrl+E to turn the "Search" sidebar on or off (various search engines to choose from), Ctrl+G to open or close the "Easy Collection" panel, and Ctrl+R to refresh the current page.

Select all first, press and hold shfit to change the first one, and press enter.

Select the files you want to rename in batches, then right-click on the selected files, select Rename, enter a new name, and OK.

All selected files are named sequentially with the new names you typed. For example, if you type "sci-fi", the files in the series will be named "sci-fi", "sci-fi (1)", "sci-fi (2)", etcAnd so on.

To specify the starting number for a series, you can type the starting number in parentheses after the new name, and the files in the series will be numbered sequentially starting with the number you typed. If you type "science fiction (1)", then the other files will be named "science fiction (2)", science fiction (3), and so on. Don't forget to have parentheses!

And it must be entered in English. There are also a few things to keep in mind:

From a practical point of view, the above article has been introduced in detail enough, but as an in-depth understanding of the Windows batch rename file function in my spare time, it is still very beneficial to know a little more things, and here are some of the precautions I found in actual operation:

1. When defining the method of initial numbering, you need to add a small parenthesis outside the initial number. In particular, the parentheses must be entered in English, otherwise the parentheses will be considered part of the file name (for narrative convenience, the "file name" here refers specifically to the part except the parentheses, and the parentheses and the numbers in them will be used as additional information to the file name. This convention will be followed in the following narrative).

2. Personal understanding "() entered in English) is a sign that Windows recognizes the file name and additional information, and the system will determine the dividing line between the file name and the additional information according to this symbol. It is only with such a system-recognized symbol that it is possible to customize the initial number.

3. When customizing the numbering, Windows can only process Arabic numerals, no matter what information we enter in parentheses other than Arabic numerals, when naming in batches, these information will not be reflected in files other than the first file. In this case, the second file number starts with (1), as if the initial number is not customized. In addition, if "A" is entered in parentheses in the first file (file A) during the first rename, if the first file becomes file B in the second rename, the "A" in parentheses in the original file A will be replaced by the new numbering information.

4. After the renaming, the file name except the first file is the file name (the file name of the first file except for the brackets, see the above agreement for details) plus the corresponding number. A space is automatically inserted between the file name and number of all but the first file.

5. When the name is duplicated (that is, the first file is named), a space can be artificially inserted between the file name and the custom initial number, so that it will not affect the subsequent file names.

If you specify the initial number and artificially add a space to the second renaming, the input content is File Name (N), and if the value of "n" is within the original number range, an error will be reported.

Of course, if the file name is different for the two rename operations, this error will not occur.
