He was selected to the NBA All-Star Team 11 times, the NBA All-NBA Team 5 times, and the Dream Team in 1992. He was a two-time Olympic gold medalist in 1984 and 1992.
Ewing spent 15 seasons with the New York Knicks, averaging points and rebounds per game.
In 2000, he was traded to the Seattle SuperSonics, and last year he signed a one-year contract with the Orlando Magic as a free agent. Ewing was also an 11-time All-Star and is one of the 50 greatest stars in NBA history.
In his 17-year NBA career, he scored 24,815 points and grabbed 11,606 rebounds.
In 1994, the Knicks lost 3-4 to the Rockets in the finals, and Ewing missed out on the championship.
In 1999, Ewing was injured and the Knicks lost 4-1 to the Spurs in the Finals.
Ewing is also the Knicks' all-time rebounding leader (10,759), steals (1,061), blocks (2,758), and appearances (1,039). His shooting percentage (9,260), number of shots (18,224), free throws (5,126) and free throws (6,904) also rank first in Knicks history.
In the 02-03 season, he served as an assistant coach for the Washington Wizards.
In July 2003, he agreed to serve as an assistant coach of the Houston Rockets.
