Xiamen, a sub-provincial-level city in the People's Republic of China, a city specifically designated in the state plan, and a new first-tier city [1], is one of the first four special economic zones in China to implement the policy of opening up to the outside world[2], and one of the ten national comprehensive supporting reform pilot zones (i.e., the "new special zones").
