It's important for you to add that you were making circuit boards before. I would suggest that you learn CAM because it does not require very high electronic knowledge. It is said that you have the corresponding work experience in this area, so it should be very easy to learn and get on the road.
If you learn layout, it's not that complicated. Generally, the fastest is a week or two, and the slowest is a month, and finally you can draw a simple PCB. However, layout requires a high level of electronic knowledge.
In that case, you should be prepared for long-term study and specialization.
But as a comparison between these two jobs, I think the development potential of Layout in the future is a little better than that of Cam. So in the end, you still have to make a decision. One of mine is just for your reference.

1.First of all, if you are a fresh college graduate, you can go to the PCB design and R&D engineer route if you are interested.
2.CAM engineers don't even think about it, although the title of PCB CAM engineer hangs, but in fact, the work is very tiring and hard, and there is no development prospect at all.
3.As far as 2012 is concerned, conservatively speaking, the salary of CAM engineers is basically more than 4,000 yuan. That's 95% of the company's payroll data!
After 2013, the salary of CAM engineers will increase slightly, probably by 300 to 600.
4.The PCB design engineer is different, junior and intermediate engineers or above, with a minimum salary of more than 6000 (no upper limit). (depending on the level of individual skills), and finally you must be sure to understand the nature and difference between the work of a PCB engineer and a CAM engineer, as well as the treatment!
5.I am a CAM engineer in the PCB manufacturing industry. If you know more about today's form, it can be said that there is no bright future, and the treatment is not very good.
Generally, if there is a mistake, you will be fined directly from your salary, which is extremely stressful. No matter how patient and capable people are, they will eventually be exhausted... The ending is bleak...
In 2013 my salary was 5000 (not including meals). The industry trend is like this for the time being...

Generally, customers provide DDB (i.e. Protel files), including schematics, netlists, and electrical checklists. Then you have to make a PCB diagram according to the customer's needs. File Cam in the PCB interface
manager, and gerber everywhere. The rear left can be done in the CAM350, and it can also be done in the genesis.

I also just got this offer, and I also want to ask, does this job need to be on the front line? Do you want to stay up late and work shifts? I'm an engineering girl

If you can't get 3-4k, it's still a very tiring job, I came out of the board factory, if you have a college degree or above, it is not recommended to take this road, it is recommended to go in the direction of design and development.

This is really not, you may not be able to get it in Shenzhen even if you enter the Shennan circuit. The CAM job is not easy either.

A Registered Engineer is a practising qualification as long as you can pass it.
There is a period of confusion in doing anything, I feel that the future is bleak, and then I want to transform and develop, whether it is an engineer, a foreman, or a project manager, there will be a career trough. If you transform, you may find a suitable one for yourself and reach the top directly, or you may continue to trough. But both peaks and troughs are temporary. >>>More
