The City in a Bottle - Take a closer look at Luo Yongjun.
Zhang Zhengmin, deputy editor-in-chief of "Pictorial" and professor of Nanjing Normal University, "A gentleman wants to accept words and be sensitive to deeds".
Confucius and Luo Yongjun saw that the city was overwhelming, and a group of people and things who knew each other well poured in like a tide, and everything became an abstraction. Behavior, gaze mingled and collided in disorder, disorienting like a stray bullet. Animals are far from their habitats, crowds are away from nature, and noise and noise fill the entire space ......Viewed from the perspective of bondage, everyone is expressionless as if they are subject to an invisible web.
Like Eliot's
When a stranger asks, "What's the point of this city?"
Are you huddled together because you love each other? ”
This is the impression I received from Luo Yongjun's early "Dream" series.
In fact, some of the earlier themes of the Breathe series have already raised similar questions. The difference is that people and cities are floating in the aimless ocean, and it was that drifting that gave birth to Luo Yongjun's "Bottle" series.
Different from the classical expectations in the notes in "Drifting Bottle", Luo Yongjun's "Bottle" is full of cities, people and objects alienated by the process of urbanization. This time, the bottle is not floating on the water, but is ubiquitously suspended in different environments. The change becomes an illusion, the cultural fusion freezes in the hollow, the city in the bottle is divided, and in every corner of the city in the bottle, fear, lies, loneliness and monotony are pervasive.
Luo Yongjun no longer regards the drifting bottle as a symbol of human cross-cultural communication in the age of navigation, nor does he have the surprise, mystery and accident that people expect from the unknown, but more reminds us of reflection and vigilance, so as to find the spiritual home of the other world.
It was also this time that Luo Yongjun effectively combined his painting language with the cultural thinking behind his works, and the paintings were direct and not cumbersome, and the brushwork was more firm and composed. In the context of contemporary culture, Luo Yongjun has taken a solid step forward in the integration of classical brushwork into real life. From the series of experiments in recent years, it is not difficult to see his thoughtfulness and dedication.
Luo Yongjun's work is not perfect, because it is impregnated with a certain spirit, which reveals a vibrant, exciting vibration. It is this flutter that allows us to breathe through the narrow gap and provides hope.
As a man, Luo Yongjun is not good at words, but he is diligent in his behavior and is very realistic.
