In the twelfth year of Jian'an (207 AD), Cao Cao personally led the army to the north, pursued and annihilated Yuan Shang and the remnants of Yuan Xi, swore to the Northern Expedition in May, and left Lulongzhai in July, and returned to Linjie Stone Mountain. He jumped on his horse and raised his whip, climbed the mountain to watch the sea, faced the flood surging sea, touched the scene, and wrote this magnificent poem.

The meaning of watching the sea:From "Stepping Out of the Summer Gate" is a group of poems written by the late Han Dynasty writer Cao Cao with the old title of Yuefu, written in the twelfth year of Jian'an (207) when the author won the victory of the Northern Expedition to Wuhuan. This group of poems is divided into five parts, the beginning is the overture "Yan", and the following are four chapters: "Watching the Sea", "Winter October", "The Earth is Different", and "Turtle Although Shou".
The whole poem describes the scenery of the Heshuo area, expresses personal ambition, and reflects the poet's heroic spirit of being full of ambition and commanding the situation. The artistic conception of the work is broad and majestic.

Phrase annotations碣 (jié) stone: the name of a mountain on the shore of the Bohai Sea, in the north of Changli County, Hebei Province. After about the middle of the 6th century, the near shore in front of Jieshi Mountain became land and far away from the Bohai Sea, so that Jieshi Mountain no longer became a scenic spot for viewing the sea.
