The 23rd and 24th day of the twelfth month of the lunar calendar are the traditional Chinese folk sacrifice stove days, also known as "small years". Legend has it that the prince of the stove was originally a commoner Zhang Sheng, and after marrying a wife, he spent all day drinking, losing his family business and begging on the street. One day, he begged to his ex-wife Guo Dingxiang's house, was ashamed, and burned to death under the stove.
After the Jade Emperor knew, he thought that Zhang Sheng could change his mind and not break to the end, since he died at the bottom of the pot, he was named the king of the stove, every year.
Two. Ten. 3. The 24th will report to the heavens, and the Chinese New Year's Eve will return to the bottom of the stove. The common people feel that the king of the stove must be respected, because he has to report to heaven. As a result, the folk had the wax moon.
Two. Ten. The "Little Year" of the 3rd and 24th sacrificial stoves pray for peace and good fortune in the coming year.
Fan Chengda of the Song Dynasty said in his "Poem of Sacrificing the Stove": "In ancient times, on the twenty-fourth day of the lunar month, the king of the stove wanted to say something. The cloud car wind horse is small and stays, and the family has a cup and plate ceremony.
The pig's head is rotten and hot double fish fresh, and the bean paste is sweet pine powder bait. The man sacrificed his daughter to avoid, and drank and burned the money stove Junxi. The servant fights against the king, and the cat and dog horns are filthy; Send the king drunk and full to the gate of heaven, the long ladle and the short ladle do not return to the clouds, and beg for the return of the city.
It can be said that this poem vividly illustrates the customs and habits of the ancient Chinese people about sacrificial stoves. Of course, this is just folklore and is not to be believed.
