8) When setting up the cups, the distance between the cups should be a grain of rice width, not too far apart, but also not touching. If the distance between the cups is too large, it will take you away from the good sense. If you touch each other or get too close, it will cause your mind to be dull in the future, and you will not have a keen intelligence.
9) The cup should be placed very solemnly and neatly, not crookedly. It means not to be offered with a distorted heart, that is, with a pure heart that is not polluted by worldly fame.
10) When making offerings, you can recite Hum Ah Ah or hold the Dharani Offering.

14) Thinking in this way can become the five forces of mind cultivation and accumulate merit to generate bodhichitta mind. Therefore, we should try our best to dedicate ourselves to the benefit of all sentient beings, and we should quickly become Buddhas.

Water offerings are the most convenient of all offerings, and Atisha said, "It is very easy for us to make an offering with water, and it is not easy to get infected with the eight winds of the world." "Making a lot of water offerings won't make you slow down!
In this way, if we are able to make a great offering without giving rise to the self slowly, it is obvious that we will not be tainted with the deception of the motive, and the deceit of the offering will not be contaminated, because the water is easy to obtain, and we do not have to go through the evil order to obtain it in an improper way. Compared to water, offering flowers is very dangerous, why? You will feel that you have to spend money to buy it, and you may be stingy, and after offering flowers, you will be slow because "I offer this flower", and it will completely dye the eight winds of the world.
Therefore, compared to water, flower offerings are more dangerous. If you don't have any lack of pleasure, then the great offering is good.
Because water has eight merits, and since there are eight merits, there are eight kinds of good fortune for offering water, and how the eight kinds of good fortune are accumulated, I won't go into detail here. There are eight types of merits for water supply, such as being clear, clean, soft, and not hurting the throat. If you go to water with the idea of having these eight merits, each of them has a relative merit and good fortune, for example, water doesn't hurt your throat, so you won't get sick in the future; Because it's very soft, your heart will also be soft, peaceful, kind, and so on, and offering water will have these merits, and the good fortune will correspond.
As for how the water is supplied? When making an offering, don't say that you are pouring water down like a beggar, this is not okay, but respectfully pour water into the offering cup in a container. When pouring water, start with a small amount, then gradually increase to medium-large, then small (when the water is almost full, pour a small amount slowly).
Don't pour it all at once, pour it slowly, pour a little more water in the middle, fill it up a little, don't let the water spill out, do it very solemnly. When we pour water, we can't fill it up, because if it overflows, it will become the cause of evil wisdom, so we can't let it be full, and it's not right to pour half of it, but we have to pour it just right.
It is important to note that the purpose of the offering is to make the Three Jewels happy, not to make the offerings. Because the offering is to make the Buddhas happy, we have to be as careful as possible and do it in the same way that the Three Jewels will rejoice. If the Three Jewels are not happy, no matter how many things you offer, you just put some things over there, not to offer them.
So, the most important thing is to make the Three Jewels happy. For example, if you put some flowers on the offering table, it is just an ornament, not an offering. "Offering" means to make the Buddha happy in Tibetan, so how to make the Buddhas happy is the best offering.
Since I mentioned that making the Buddhas happy is the best offering, I would like to be careful to tell you that following the teachings is the best offering, because the Buddhas are most happy to practice the teachings, and if you can practice bodhichitta well, then that is the best offering, and there is nothing that the Buddhas are most happy about.
Someone asked, "I'm poor and I don't have any offerings to offer, so don't I make offerings?" "It's not like that! Because there is no limit to the offering, there is no limit to the offering. If we have faith and understanding, there is no limit to our offerings. There are two types of offerings, those with and without one.
