Yongding Tulou is located in Yongding District, Longyan City, Fujian Province, on the southeast coast of China. Yongding, a pure Hakka county, is the county with the most tulou in Fujian, with more than 23,000 in total. It is a unique and magical mountain residential building in the world, and it is a wonderful flower of ancient Chinese architecture.
In July 2008, it was successfully inscribed on the World Heritage List. It has a long history, a unique style, a grand scale and an elaborate structure.
Tulou is divided into square, round, pentagonal, octagonal, Japanese-shaped, hollow-shaped, stilted building and other internal types. Yongding District has a total of 360 famous round buildings and more than 10,000 square buildings. Among them, the most famous tulou is - Fujian Tulou King - Chengqi Building, Tulou Prince - Zhencheng Building, Tulou Princess - Zhenfu Building.
Among them, Chengqi Building is the largest building scale among Fujian tulou, and in 2010 it entered the Guinness World Record for the largest tulou.
In Hongkeng Village, Hukeng Town, Yongding County, a national key cultural relics protection unit, there are more than 40 tulou buildings such as the magnificent "Prince of Round Towers" - Zhencheng Building, the classic Fuyu Building, the palace-like building like the Potala Palace, Kuiju Building, and the "Pocket Round Building" - such as Shenglou. They go up along the stream, the momentum is magnificent, scattered, and the green mountains, green water, green bamboo, arch bridges, waterwheels, farmland harmoniously, forming a colorful and gorgeous picture.
The miracle of the Tulou group fully reflects the collective strength and superb wisdom of the Hakka people, and also shines with the brilliance of the excellent culture of the Chinese nation. The Hakka people were originally Han people in the Central Plains, forced to move south due to war, famine and other reasons, and lasted nearly a thousand years in the Southern Song Dynasty, traveling thousands of miles, forming a Hakka people in the border areas of Fujian, Guangdong and Jiangxi provinces. In the process of being forced to leave their homeland and be displaced from their homeland, they have experienced a lot of hardships, and they have to rely on themselves for many difficulties, and their families always have to live together.
Since most of the Hakka people live in remote mountainous areas or deep mountains and dense forests, the Hakka people create "resistant" castle-style buildings-tulou. The tulou was square at the earliest, with palace style and house style, with different postures and solid firmness. Because the square tulou has directionality, the four corners are darker, and the ventilation and lighting are different, so the Hakka people have designed a round tulou with good ventilation and lighting, which has no beginning and no end.
In ancient times and even before the founding of the People's Republic of China, Tulou has always been a strong fort for the Hakka people to defend themselves against the enemy.
The gate of the tulou is used.
Twenty or thirty centimeters thick miscellaneous wood, nailed iron plates, and some buildings are equipped with fireproof water tanks on the doors. Circular tulou.
The first and second floors do not open the windows, and there are also watchtowers in front of the highest part of the building and on the left and right, and when you climb the lookout, you can see the enemy situation outside the building at a glance. In addition to the peculiar role of defending against the enemy, Yongding Tulou also has the characteristics of earthquake-proof, fire-proof, and animal-proof.
In order to prevent fire, the outer ring of many round buildings is divided into sixths.
1. One-eighth or one-tenth of the firewall, a firewall is built in the middle, so that the fire cannot spread and burn the whole building. Since the reform and opening up, Yongding Tulou has attracted more and more attention from the world.
