There is a saying in our daily morning class, "There is nothing difficult in the ten places", which means that as long as we strive to practice the bodhisattva path, we can transcend the ten places (the ten places of the bodhisattva: the land of joy, the land of detachment, the land of light, the land of flame and wisdom, the land of invincibility, the land of the present, the land of travel, the land of immobility, the land of good wisdom, and the land of dharma clouds), and thus become the bodhisattva of the ordination. Of course, this "one thought" should be understood by Master Seng Zhao's concept of "heaven and earth have the same root as me, and all things are one with me", and the "one thought" of Buddhism cannot be understood by the concept of time.

Today, I want to talk to you about how we should work hard in our practice, strive hard, be equal to relatives, get rid of stealing hearts and not die, and so on, and I have talked a lot about the methods and goals of our efforts. Today, I want to talk about some small questions in real life, because I see that many people around me can't use their kung fu and can't benefit from such a good Dharma, a big reason is to make excuses for themselves, such as being in poor health or getting sick, and so on.

I remember that when I was at the Berlin Temple, the great monk Minghai said that he was a person who rarely saw people who were not sick. At the time, I didn't know what he meant, but when I asked him later, I found out that he was saying that he would not excuse himself from being sick or avoid certain things. Because many people, in order to avoid right and wrong, or to make excuses for themselves, often say that they are sick, which is very pitiful.

Because in my own personal experience, there have been cases where I said that I was sick or in poor health, and then I was really sick or in poor health. This is said in the article "Entanglement".

The Huayan Sutra says: "If one wants to know, all the Buddhas in the three worlds should contemplate the Dharma realm and create everything idealistic." "When we say that we are sick or that we are not in good health, our mind corresponds to being sick or in bad health, so that over time our body is really not good, and naturally we are really sick.

So this excuse is very dangerous, and such examples are often seen in real life, which is a big obstacle that prevents us from surpassing, and we must pay attention to it.

I have seen a lot of people around me in the past few years, and there will always be people who use their illness as an excuse. Some people even say that they are going to go to the next mountain, and they are young and strong as an ox, so they always use illness as an excuse, which is really pitiful. So myself half-jokingly dissuaded them by saying:

What's wrong with you being so strong? If there is a disease, it must be mad cow disease. "They are really too young to know the power of these causes and effects, and they don't have the right to control them, so they have to talk lightly.

It is said in the Great Collection Sutra that the bhikshus of the end of the Dharma are full of disasters and diseases. However, we should know that these diseases can be avoided, as long as we do not correspond to the disease and do not always think about the disease, the disease will be more or less far away from us. There would not be this sick monk, that sick body, and even the famous monks would always say that they were not in good health.

The patriarch also has a lot of public cases related to this aspect, and he has also written some of them, such as "The Buddha of the Sun and the Buddha of the Moon", "Realizing the True Appearance Due to Illness" and so on. As long as we put aside these excuses and work hard to do the Tao, then it is really not difficult for the Ten Places to be superseded.

The Ten Lands of Transcendence refer to the ten places of the Bodhisattva, namely, the Land of Joy, the Land of Detachment, the Land of Radiance, the Land of Flame and Wisdom, the Land of Invincibility, the Land of Present, the Land of Travel, the Land of Immobility, the Land of Good Wisdom, and the Land of Dharma Clouds.

These refer to the realm of Buddhism, which different people have different understandings, and some people believe that this is a kind of advanced state of practice in Buddhism.

Referring to men and women as "elder brothers" does not mean discrimination against women, but rather praise for the dedication to practicing the Dharma (whether at home or at home) and praise the spirit of courage and responsibility. The word "brother" also means to show respect and respect for the other party.

In addition, other titles are not used because the word "teacher" has the meaning of teaching and learning. The public Xun cultivates the victory, and there is no difficulty in the ten places. Being able to gather with all the good people, see the wise and think together, and learn from each other, that is, you can progress and grow.

Because in traditional Chinese culture, those who call themselves are called brothers, even if a 70-year-old man and a 20-year-old guy who meet for the first time are called xx brothers. Calling it smaller than your own backup is to use your younger brother to commensurate it.

After this Buddhism was introduced to China, it was influenced by Taoism and Confucianism that it began to use the honorific title of senior brother. It is generally used to refer to students who are the same as themselves, other teachers. Show respect.

As for nuns, you can call you senior sister, you can also call senior brother, there is no rule that you can only call senior brother and not senior sister.

Because the Western Elysium that Buddhists want to relive in is all men, and there is no female body, and even if a woman dies, a woman will turn into a male body, so the Buddhist monks who wish to be reborn in the Western Pure Land, both men and women, are called brothers.
