There are many such people in the world, that is, the so-called "intellectuals", "scholars", "artists".

There is also a kind of person who has a strong "desire for life" and a lot of foot strength, and is not satisfied with the second floor, so he takes the stairs and climbs up the third floor. That's what religion is. They are very serious people, it is not enough to satisfy "material desires", it is not enough to satisfy "spiritual desires", they must explore the end of life.

They think that property and children are all things outside the body, academic literature and art are temporary beauty, and even their own bodies are illusory existences. They refuse to be slaves to instinct, and must investigate the ** of the soul, the foundation of the universe, in order to satisfy their "desire for life". This is the religion.

There are only three kinds of people in the world. I'm using the metaphor of three floors, but it doesn't have to go from the first floor to the second floor and then to the third floor.

There are a lot of people who go from the first layer to the third level and don't need to stay on the second level. There are also many people who don't even live on the first floor, and run up to three floors in one go.

However, our Master Hongyi is going up layer by layer. Master Hongyi's "desire for life" is very strong! He must be thorough.

In his early years, he was filial to his mother and loved his wife, and lived on the first floor. In middle age, he concentrated on the study of art and gave full play to his multifaceted genius, and then moved to the second floor. The strong "desire for life" could not make him satisfied with the second floor, so he climbed the third floor to become a monk, cultivate the Pure Land, and study the precepts.

Being a human being is like drinking wine; If the amount of alcohol is small, you will be drunk after drinking a glass of Huadiao wine, and if you have a large amount of alcohol, you will be too weak to drink Huadiao, and you must drink sorghum wine to enjoy it. Literature and art are like flower carvings, and religion is like sorghum. Master Hongyi drinks a lot of alcohol, and he can't enjoy drinking Huadiao, so he must drink sorghum.

I drink very little, I can only drink Huadiao, and it is rare to drink a sip of sorghum. But people who drink Huadiao can quite understand the hearts of those who drink sorghum. Therefore, I have always taken it for granted that Master Hongyi's sublimation from art to religion is not surprising.
