Almost all NIC drivers can be called by the nDisreadNetworkAddress parameter in order to read a user-specified MAC address from the registry. When the driver determines that the MAC address is valid, it will program the MAC address into its hardware registers, ignoring the MAC address inherent to the network card. We can do this by manually modifying the registry of Windows.
If you run the Windows registry under Winodws 98, "hkey local machine system current controlset services class net", you will see subkeys like "0000", "0001", "0002". Start clicking with the "0000" subkey, and then search for the contents of the "driverdesc" key under the subkey until you find the key that contains the same NIC registry information as the target we are looking for.
When you find the correct network card, click the drop-down menu "New String", the name line of the string is called "networkaddress", and you can enter the numeric value by double-clicking the mouse on the name of the new "networkaddress" string. Enter the new MAC address value you want to specify. The new MAC address should be a 12-bit hexadecimal number or letter with no "-" in between, such as "0000000000000" (note that in Windows 98 and Windows 2000 XP, the specific key value is in a slightly different position, you can find it by looking up the function).
Under "NetworkAddress", continue to add a string file backup value called "paramdesc", which will serve as a description of the "NetworkAddress" item, and the value can be "Mac Address". Then modify the content to what you want to set.
2.Modify NIC properties.
Most of the network cards can change their MAC address by modifying the NIC properties in the control panel, and my 3COM 3C905B-TX and RTL8139 chip network cards can be easily modified.
In Device Manager, right-click the NIC icon for which you want to modify the MAC address and select the Properties Advanced tab. In the "Properties" area, you will see an item called "Network Address" or other similar name, click on it, and under the "Value" on the right, enter the MAC address value you want to specify. To enter 12 hexadecimal numbers or letters in a row, do not enter "-" between them, and the setting will take effect after rebooting the system.
