When exporting, you can use smart rendering for some formats to minimize repetitive compression, creating a higher-quality output.

In previous versions of Premiere Pro, Smart Rendering was available in DV and DVCPRO formats.

A new smart rendering feature has been added to Premiere Pro for Long Gop MPEG2 OP1A exports, where the original footage is a matching Long Gop MPEG2 OP1A or XDCAM EX file. Smart Rendering can reduce MXF rendering time for Long Gop MPEG2 while avoiding recompression.

For DV or DVCPRO formats, smart rendering is performed automatically.

For the xdcam format, you need to select the appropriate checkbox to implement smart rendering in the xdcam exporter plug-in. If you include these types of clips in a sequence with match settings on the timeline and export to MXF OP1A with a match preset, and select the appropriate checkbox in the XDCAM exporter plug-in, smart rendering will occur. If needed, Premiere Pro can display the applied effect and return to regular rendering.

To cancel smart rendering, deselect the checkbox in the xdcam exporter plug-in.

When using these formats, intelligent rendering speeds up workflows and reduces production losses. Render time is 4 to 12 times faster than actual time. The lower the bitrate, the faster the rendering (less data per frame to be copied, so more content can be processed at the same transfer rate).
