Cultivation techniques of smiling flowers:

Manage conservation. Watering.

Keep the potting soil moist, but never too wet. Because its roots are fleshy, if you water too much or after rain, it will become rotten roots, so you should pay attention to controlling humidity in the rainy season. During the growing season and before flowering, more water is required, watering once a day, and the foliage must be watered in the hot weather in summer to maintain a certain air humidity.

In autumn and winter, due to the short sunshine, watering once or twice a week is sufficient.

Fertilize. Hanxiao flowers like fertilizer, mostly with rotted cake fertilizer, bone meal, chicken and duck manure and fish belly intestine and other fertilizer mixed with water, in the growing season (April to September) every 15 days or so to apply fertilizer, flowering period and after October to stop fertilization. If you find that the leaf color is not bright and dark green, you can apply fertilizer water once.

Thinning. Flowers should not be excessively thinned, usually after flowering, the long branches, diseased branches and overly dense overlapping branches that affect the shape of the tree can be thinned, and the fruit after flowering can be subtracted to reduce nutrient consumption. Before budding in spring, some old leaves should be thinned appropriately to trigger new branches and leaves.

Turn over the pot. Repotting is done every 1 to 2 years, preferably in spring before the release of new leaves, after flowering, or in autumn. Combined with repotting to remove the appropriate part of the old soil, replace it with fertile and loose culture soil, thin out dead branches and overgrown roots, and place sufficient base fertilizer in the basin.

Winter maintenance. Northern potted plants need to be wintered indoors, and their maintenance has the following points.

1. Temperature: The minimum temperature of smiling overwintering is not less than 5, once the temperature is lower than 5, the normal physiological activities of the plant will be affected, the absorption capacity of the roots will be weakened, and the young branches and leaves of the plant will wilt. At the same time, the maximum temperature should not exceed 15, if the temperature is too high, the internal nutrient consumption of the plant is too much, which is not conducive to the growth of the next year.

Therefore, it is advisable to keep the room temperature between 5 and 15 in winter.

2. Humidity: Laughing likes a humid environment, and dry air is not conducive to its growth. Winter generally requires its relative humidity to be more than 65%, when the air is dry, you can use a sprayer to spray the ground and plant foliage to increase air humidity, but the temperature of the sprayed water and room temperature should not be too different, do not use cold water.

3. Watering: Hanxiao root is a fleshy root, so too much watering in winter will cause root rot or cause pests and diseases, generally watering once a week. Before watering, the water temperature, room temperature, and soil temperature are almost the same, and the watering time should be selected when the temperature is high at noon.

The temperature is low in the morning and evening, and it is not advisable to water, so as not to frostbite the roots due to sudden temperature changes.

4. Ventilation: After entering the room with a smile during the frost season, it is necessary to keep the indoor air fresh, if the ventilation is poor, it is easy to be harmed by aphids, scale insects and other pests. If it is placed in a greenhouse with coal heating in winter, a large amount of carbon monoxide, sulfur dioxide and other gases will cause the plant to die.

Therefore, at noon on a sunny day without wind, open the window to ventilate and let in light.

5. Fertilization: Hanxiao cultivated in the north is in a dormant or semi-dormant state in winter, and the amount of fertilizer required is not large, so it should be properly applied as a basal fertilizer based on organic fertilizer, so as to facilitate Hanxiao's flowering in the coming year.
