Zao Wou-Ki (February 13, 1921 – April 9, 2013) 1. A French-Chinese painter. Born in Beijing, China. As a child, he studied in Nantong, Jiangsu Province, and studied painting.

In 1935, he entered Hangzhou Art College and studied under Lin Fengmian. In 1948, he went to France to study and settled in France. In terms of painting creation, he uses the form of Western modern painting and the color techniques of oil painting, participates in the meaning of traditional Chinese culture and art, and creates a new painting space with changing colors, powerful brushstrokes, and a sense of rhythm and light, which is called "the representative of Western modern lyrical abstraction".

He is currently a lifelong painter at the Galerie de France, a professor at the École Nationale des Arts Décoratifs in Paris, and a Knight of the Order of France. He has held more than 160 solo exhibitions around the world. On April 9, 2013, Zao Wou-Ki died at the age of 92 in the canton of Vaud, Switzerland.
