Biographical information on the French writer Victor Hugo. Hugo was born on February 26, 1802 in Besançon, France, to two brothers. At the age of 13, he and his brother entered a boarding school, and both brothers became student leaders.
By the age of 16 he was already able to compose outstanding verses, and by the age of 21 he had published a collection of poems and became famous. In 1845, King Louis Philippe of France conferred the post of member of the House of Lords on Hugo, and since then he has devoted himself to politics. His representative works include the long stories "Notre Dame de Paris", "Ninety-Three Years" and "Les Miserables", and the short stories "The Shipwreck of the "Normandy" (called "The Captain" in the seventh lesson of the sixth grade volume of the Soviet version). The "Normandy" Shipwreck was also selected as the ninth lesson of the first volume of the fifth grade of the Chinese version of the Chinese version of the textbook, the twentieth lesson of the second volume of the fifth grade of the Jijiao edition, and the tenth lesson of the second volume of the sixth grade of the Shanghai Education Edition.
